hi S4racen, I'm pretty sure you were the guy with whom I was discussing about farmpad and padkontrol some years ago on korg forums??
hope you're doing well, seems you still love midi mapping stuff !!
did you try with the 2 launchpads using each its own 8*8 grid ?
cheers

Ah yes farm pad, the good old days lol!
Yeah I've used the two grids but they don't lock together, easily done with m4l though....

thanks, that was I thought.Yeah I've used the two grids but they don't lock together, easily done with m4l though....
I'm sure that won't be of a big problem for us, using "shift+scene view" leading to a kind of visual feedback of were in the live set we are "gridding", and then easy to match the 2nd launchpad...
The M4L way is interesting but I got no time anymore for depths programmation like I used to love with farmpad and live some years ago...
thanks for your input
cheers
Re: Anybody tried using 2 Launchpads together yet?
If you've got m4l I could easily knock up a patch that does just that, I already have the code in my Isotonik lite device that works for relocating the apc40 redbox....

Re: Anybody tried using 2 Launchpads together yet?
thanks for that mate,
I just checked ableton.com and I realised M4L was 249e and not 149e as I thought...
we won't go the m4l route for now,
we tried the setup with the 2 launchpads yesterday evening, and it's fully functionnal
we can handle the lack of grid sync between the 2 launchpads, using the session button to quickly check where we are in the session view, and, besides, that's more freedom to navigate (we are 2) and make live improvisation...
thanks again
cheers

Yeah thats cool man, whenever someone thinks up one of these "it should do it automatically" ideas i always question how long it'll be before the next question is "how do i turn it off if...."supamonsta wrote:thanks for that mate,

Re: Anybody tried using 2 Launchpads together yet?
I posted this in another thread but I thought I'd try here as well since both threads are a bit old. Anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?
-----------
O.k. so I'm really late to this thread but I've been thinking about this (sort of obsessing actually) for the past week.
I got a Launchpad S which is awesome, but like a lot of people I instantly wanted knobs or faders for pan and volume...So I got a Launch Control, which is also awesome. Both are incredibly well built and the visual feedback and integration with Live is amazing.
But...there's one problem - a deal breaker actually.
Let's say I have 9 tracks and I'm looking at tracks 1-8 on the Launchpad and the Launch Control. Fantastic, everything works, I can pan and change volume on any of the tracks, start/stop clips, etc. without switching modes at all. Exactly what I wanted. I can even switch templates on the Launch Control and use the knobs for devices.
If I use the Launchpad to move to tracks 2-9 the Launchpad obviously does it's thing...the Launch Control however, stays on 1-8. I have to move the Launch Control to 2-9 as well.
In other words they don't link and there's no visual feedback for which set of tracks the Launch Control is using besides the "Controlling tracks 2-9" message that briefly flashes when I change the Launch Control.
So, anyone know if linking these two is possible? So that the Launch Control follows any navigation on the Launchpad? Or at least showing a second "red box" for the Launch Control?
This combo is great, and it's so close to perfect it hurts...but if I can't find a way to do this I'm returning both and waiting for the APC40 MK2.
----------
Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in the process of playing with the Launchcontrol, if I can figure out the way of making its controls move without pressing the buttons I'll let you know.....

Re: Anybody tried using 2 Launchpads together yet?
I'm sure the 16x8 launch grid could be made from python scripting.
I'd be surprised if someone hasn't already made one. It isn't available by default.
LP has been around for years now, I'd think at least a few hundred people have used 2 launchpads together by now...

Re: Anybody tried using 2 Launchpads together yet?
Theres a recent addition to ClyphX that does it with two launchpads, this ones linking a LaunchControl with a launchpad though...
I'll work it out soon...

S4racen,
Thanks for the reply. I know I was a little off topic from the original post but it was the only subject that I could find that even remotely (no pun intended) resembled what I want to do.
I'm kind of amazed that a) the Launch Control doesn't have a 1xN box instead of nothing at all and b) it can't just follow the current box.
Sort of seems like Novation had the right idea but couldn't make up their minds in terms of whether the LC was a stand alone unit or a real addition to a LP.
Anyway, thanks.

O.k. just in the event that someone else is trying to do this (or something similar) here's what I found: http://www.nativekontrol.com/Link.html
It's $9.50 and it works. It's just python scripts so I'm sure someone will come out with a free version, but for a quick fix this is it.

Re: Anybody tried using 2 Launchpads together yet?
After Stray has achieved it and put the work in it would be churlish to develop a free version and distribute it...djfrodo wrote: It's $9.50 and it works. It's just python scripts so I'm sure someone will come out with a free version, but for a quick fix this is it.
