Yeah, I'm certainly not going to prejudge something on the basis of site demos ( they are almost always terrible to my ears/taste), and if someone from Arturia's involved, then that's a very good sign indeed.

Yeah it's pretty cool, definitely worth $15. Does a good job of de-harshing digital tracks. The real monsters from Nomad are the new analog modeling stuff, British MLC, Puls Tech EQ etc.
There was an insane deal from Don'tCrack that had every plug in they make for peanuts. I owned the Vintage bundle from years ago and got all 47 of their plug ins for $150!Don't Crack is a site to watch for this sort of thing as well!

I remember that deal. The price was certainly right but I couldn't handle the thought of having that many plug-ins for things like eq and compression/saturation. I find that there are always similarities in the products from any given vendor and something like analog trackbox is great because it gives you many things in one (rather than having many different plug-ins which might sound similar).

Too late now, but the demo gave a good feel. The Blue Tubes Suite is guilty of that a bit I think, but the analog modeling stuff is very different sounding than the Blue Tubes which is different from the Liquid Bundle etc. For instance the Retrology series sound nothing at all like the Blue Tubes stuff, could be a different manufacturer easy. Analog Track Box is a cool thing though and worth $15 no doubt.

3) Put the serial number in which asks for the authorisation code
4) copy/paste the authorisation code
5) put your left leg in
6) out
7) in
out
9) shake it all about
10) launch VST

That's-what-it's-all-a-bout...
Bought them both 15 minutes ago. They are now both installed and authorized on my computer. Not difficult.

Would this unit be suitable to use on the master track? I'm using ableton mastering stuff at present but wonder if this might take the place.

It's not designed with mastering in mind, but you could I suppose. If you have Live 8, the new compressor is a mastering compressor, Analog Track Box is a track plug in. There are no hard rules to this stuff, and the demo is not a time out one so try it yourself.

I've used the real thing quite a bit, and they don't sound remotely like the fat, quirky, wailing, crunchy beast that I know & love.
I may drop the meagre bills on it anyway and hope that the way I'd use it would be nothing like those tracks.
As for the BT...never liked any of their plugs before...mebbe this is a step-up?

the sound demos on xils' website doesn't do the synth the justice it deserves. the synth itself still has some quirks such as small clicks while changing presets or an akward to program sequencer, but the sound is really good.

One of the benefits of ugrading to the full version is that you can then program the sequencer directly with mouse clicks. It's definitely worth getting to grips with the step sequencer as you can use it in many different and unique ways. The modulation matrix and the step sequencer in tandem makes for a powerful combination.
