Re: 8.1 sucks
every new version fixes bugs and introduces new ones. last bug that was introduced for me all of a sudden Sylenth1 doesn't receive note-offs and keeps droning all over the place. Especially if you, the user didn't do anything APART FROM installing a new version and all of a sudden shit goes haywire it's irritating. Installs fiddling with your library for over an hour are also scary (what does that do anyway?)

There's a cpu usage problem in 8.1 that is fixed in 8.1.1b3; you might try your project with 8.1.1b3 and see if it works better.djcosmonaut wrote:i use over 500 clips in my project.

Re: 8.1 sucks
8.1.1b3 seems not bad.
8.1 was incredibly unstable and from the sounds of things, bugs which I'm glad I didn't have the time to come across. I couldn't even open Max for Live devices in 8.1, it said Max was wasn't the right version or something or just couldn't load (but it was the latest at the time). Once I got the beta for 8.1.1 it would open.
I definitely suggest people to grab the beta, it's a much smaller file then normally so it's a quick download.

they should add ads for ssds while doing the update. library update done in 1-2 minutes or so heredjsynchro wrote:Installs fiddling with your library for over an hour are also scary (what does that do anyway?)

Re: 8.1 sucks
thanx for your reply mates,
yeah, i always backup projects, but turning back to 8.0.9 took a long time... fortunately, it happened at home, not on a stage )
i believe some bugs will b fixed, but let's focus on one significant general mistake ableton team made.
they decide Live must hardly compress every project you save, then decompress it when load back. (that's why you can't open 8.1 projects in 8.0.x)
What for????
Saving / loading big DJ-projects in 8.1 take huge time.
It doesn't worth it!
Saving time is much more important than saving few megabytes of HD space!!!
Small songs load quick enough, but there's almost no hd space saving with it.
No real benefits, just suffer.
Sure Ableton team must turn back to normal file handling,
or give user a choice to compress / or not before saving.

Re: 8.1 sucks
Version 8 has just fucked me full stop.
I wish I hadn't upgraded.
Or I could have had folder tracks and grooves on their own.
it was f*cking expensive, doesn't work properly and has a load of stupid shit I didn't need - vocoder and limiter for example.
BAH!

BAH!
I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

Re: 8.1 sucks
oh no, this discussion isn't about 8 vs 7!
sure 8.0.x rules! love all new plugins, and new way of warping is great!
only bugs & wrong file handling in 8.1 is a problem.

Re: 8.1 sucks
maybee its the integration of max4live in 8.1 that has brought about some new bugs for some people.

I'm using 8.1, with a few instances of M4L pinky + some monome apps.
While having one deck playing and scratching on the other deck, I'd get crash after crash.
I'm gonna test out the beta 3 tonight.. if it doesn't help I'm back to Live 8.0.4 or 5. with pinky VSTs

Re: 8.1 sucks
i think that is calling for trouble... 8.1 introduced a new filesystem... once you saved something in 8.1 there is not way back... or am i wrong here???dooZ wrote:I'm using 8.1, with a few instances of M4L pinky + some monome apps.

that is why i not even try 8.1 after all those reports, otherwise i would give it a shot, but under these circumstances i wait for 8.1.1 and hope it will be fine...

Yeah I am solid on one machine with 8.05, and 8.04 on another. Not changing it... Never upgrade until you see reviews on the upgrade. It's not worth the headache and delay in making music.Slightlydelic wrote:maybee its the integration of max4live in 8.1 that has brought about some new bugs for some people.

If you don't need a limiter someone else does. The world isn't turning around you, you know..tw1nstates wrote: it was f*cking expensive, doesn't work properly and has a load of stupid shit I didn't need - vocoder and limiter for example.
