I personally find the beta versions of Live to perform better than the 8.1 release, but I understand entirely if this is not your cup of tea.

Here are the Max 5.1 release installer locations if you threw that file away. If you have not saved any of your own content in your Max5 folder - just delete that whole thing before you install the older version.

MAX 5.1.1 breaking 7up

[edit] Ok, cycling is on it. Thanks guys!!

Hey guys, I'm one of the developers of SevenUpLive for the Monome. Some users were reporting problems on the monome forum after upgrading to 5.1.1.

Personally I was using Live 8.1.1 and MAX 5.1.0 which works perfectly. I just tried upgrading and I can confirm that there are major timing and delay issues.

From what I can tell so far, there is a very large and noticeable delay in max send and receive object communication. 7up uses these to send for example key presses to the different components.

[edit] actually not sure where exactly the problem is yet...so investigating now.
It seems that there is no change in timing inside MAX. The problem happens when we hand the note to "midiout" to be played by the instrument in the device chain. It also is not 100% reproduceable. You have to get into this stuck mode before the delay starts happening. Working on reducing the problem to a reproduceable set of patches.

If I boot up SevenUp and use just one Melodizer component to play say a piano, there is delay between key press and the sound. This breaks pretty much all our timing. For example, Looper relies on triggers sent over send/receive for triggering loop positions and this timing has a huge lag now as well.

I have not been able to investigate deep enough yet for a full bug report, but we are going to have to advise our users to NOT upgrade until we can access the situation.

Personally I'm on Snow Leopard 10.6.2
MacPRO 8-core
12 gb RAM
Java 1.6
