Tell me where you live and I'll come over and connect everything for you, I hate to see a fellow forum member suffer. I'll bring my girlfriend who has agreed to come along and give you a blow job while I sort out the technical details like plugging in "USB cables" and stuff like that.
I'M HAVING PROBLEMS SETTING MINE UP!!

how do I connect a midi cable to my firewire port? I cut the end of the cable off so it fits now but I'm not getting any sound out of Live. HELP!!

and I'm on PC!

I need to know where to get more sounds for free and use the sounds i downloaded... :?:

I made a folder of some sounds I downloaded but when I try to use them it wont let me drag them to my LP????????? I see sound but I cant hear it????

where do I setup my sound card I hear some songs but cant access my songs I even converted to wav files????????????
Honestly, if you are truly that lost you'd probably be best off just selling all of your music kit and trying something else, like DJ Hero or something. Or maybe just put it all on the shelf for now and find a good book on how to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Once you are through that try reading the manual that came with your software.

Seriously, there's a shit ton of help here for you, but you are also going to have to learn to do some foot work and some thinking on your own if you want to get any enjoyment out of your new toys.
haha I was thinking of selling it...Im not a dj But have been in the seen since 92 im just a 30 year rager with a ton of dj friends who are never around when im free to get down, seeing I have a little son who I just cant leave chilling all the time I want to get down on the kit.... I have done research im just being a bit lazy and want Some dope links to ill sounds\songs\midi\cool stuff Im pretty handie on my mac so I know im not totally a moron hahahaha Dj hero I dont like video games mate... and im using live for the launchpad version 8 and up I think???? My buddy just bought it so I know its new...So ya...

I just got the launchpad and I'm loving it so far. I just had a party I performed at with my MacBook and Launchpad and an external mixer. I had one problem with the Novation LP; it would simply not work when plugged in and also when Live was loaded. I installed the drivers from the novation site and then everything worked; oh and don't forget to follow the settings in the LaunchPad getting started manual; ust a few settings in the Ableton prefs need to be set. When this is set, you should see some lights on the launchpad controller.

After that if you want to get started real quick, just use the sample browser in Ableton on the left side of the program and drag and drop samples into the session view (where all the "clips" go). You should now see yellow squares light up, indicating an armed clip. A red box surrounding the clips in Ableton indicates where your controller is pointing at.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I was just thinking now... with all of the great internet technology and remote desktop solutions, why can't we help each other out remotely? I guess there's a huge trust factor involved. If I could check out your Ableton Live over AIM with remote desktop control access I'm pretty sure I could show you a lot of stuff to help get you started.

Yeah, I mean screen sharing. If you don't feel comfortable giving me control of the mouse you can just listen to my instructions while I watch. Do you have Skype?

make sure REMOTE IN is on in the midi preferences. for User 2 assignments remember you can hit a control in Live, hold down one button on the LP, tap another and you now have a 'slider' control over Live. hope that makes sense. Sage, if you have more questions, maybe start your own thread, the OP of this one seems to need more specific advice.
That's solve it, cheers!

Just get yourself a gig (don't prepare)
Aim some mic's on the launchpad, let the soundguy do the magic
Hit the buttons (hard)! Label yourself experimental
