It is quite possible that its basically a huge ipod with full internet capabilities like the iphone.
Only able to use apps from the App Store. Cool, but not a game changer. Full OSX application support is my big question. If it has that, then most Apple musicians will be using Mac Pros and Tablets for live use. Other questions are whether or not it will have USB, and what kind of hard drive etc?
I hope I'm wrong, but Apple has a way os solidifying price points by crippling features so advanced users have to step to the next cash amount. Every other tech company does it as well, but with apple's limited range it's just a little more obvious.

One thing is sure, it will have to sell for more than john gordon sold his Lemur for, or else something just isn't as it should be :)

I'm guessing this thing is going to be a giant ipod touch with a 3g network ability. app store only is 90% certain, meaning the best thing we'll get as far as touch surface control is similar to novation's crappy app... That is unless somebody decides to go through the trouble of developing/writing something from scratch that is as capable as the lemur. I'd imagine you could get away with pricing it much, much higher than the crap on the app store...I'd pay over $100 for software that could turn it into a lemur rival, and probably significantly more if it still was priced less than a lemur. I could really care less about the bouncyball type controllers however, I can't imagine the really active stuff will perform well over wifi (I'll guess that there wont be anything more than maybe an ipod dock connector and maybe a memory card slot or something on this, completely dependent on wifi or itunes for data transfers).

Trust me, I've been waiting to see what's up with all of this and other rumored touchscreen netbooks before i splurge on a lemur, even contemplating going about it all on my own as it could be a cash crop for the apple fanboys that make music... but the app store has a bunch of red tape you have to cross before anything is approved, and I'm not much for software development, I smash my head against the wall just coding websites using php and mysql

I think the makers of Apple remote desktop might have the odd trick to make everybody happy with a tablet.
For some it'll be a novelty sized iphone. For others it'll be a mirror into their macs regardless of where its located in the world.
But then again, I'm no apple engineer. All i know is that I can control computers over ichat and skype.

well, as one can watch hd movies over wifi, i don't think bandwidth should be a problem at all.

but as i hope for something bigger than the lemur myself (15", even 20" 16:9), i don't really care about something smaller, even while it might be cheap.

some 20" 10 finger touchscreen got announced at CES. if one of those works well, i prefer to chose that. full programability (it's just a screen) like a normal app in your favourite environment, and cheaper and bigger than the iFlatthing will be.

Till then, I still try to get a lemur :)
