It works straight out of the box with drum racks if you choose padkontrol as a control surface, what odesn't work is feddback with the drum racks. I guess feedback would work ok if I didn't choose pk as control surface, the midi notes assignments would then be defaults, but I would loose the ability to move the black square used for cell selections on the drum rack and get the padkontrol to move accordingly. Is that clearer ?

now i am confused, does my setup work correctly?

i have the PadK set up as a control surface in midi pref. when i use it to play a drum rack, then i need to either move the black square of the drum track one octave down to C1 instead of C2 (i set up a default rack for that purpose) in the top left corner, respectively i could set up a scene on my PadK one octave higher, but now it is set to starting at C2 and it triggers C1 in a drum rack.

if i understand you correctly the PadK should follow, if i move the black square either way... one octave up or down???

it does not follow, what do i do wrong, respectively do not understand here?

well, not really the PadK is so awesome compared to all the other rubbish pads around, that you should give a shit if it works with the drum racks or not (well you can use it anyways to trigger drums and whatever) the Pads is where it's at, they are bar none the best from all the pad controllers...

go grab one and worry about the shit racks later, a padK is something you can play like an instrument!!! a drum rack is just technical wanker stuff, if you can't make awesome music (beats) without a drum rack, then leave it anyway...

yes drum racks are awesome... and i would like myself to know if it works or not...

i just wanted to clarify that the decision should be based on the important issue, the pads itself. cause that is what you PLAY!

the padkontrol i would def suggest over any akai.
for me, just having pads with leds makes it light years better.
for some, this may or may not be a make/break for choosing one over another.
even if the korg pads didn't illuminate they are still way better in every way.
the pads are very sensitive and responsive from edge to edge even corner to corner.
the body of the unit although very light, is firm and sturdy.
padkontrol is the bona fide S>H>I>T>!!!

I made a scene for microtonic and it works great, even the feedback... Pads are really much better than those on the mpd series.

You can fix any of the akai pads in 5 minutes if that helps any of you.

I know the fix for the akai series but that implies opening the unit and put some layers of gaffer tape under each pad and that breaks the warranty.
