In Germany 800€ and 499€ with T mobile contract (Media Markt major electronic discounter had the page premature released yesterday , removed it after couple of hours)
Now I'm really curious and confused. If you already have an iphone does that somehow factor into it or is this a whole other device with a completely different charge? Can you simply just use it without paying some kind of monthly subscription and maybe just not get full use out of it, use of things you may not even want?

Of course nobody knows the answer to this just yet. But I think if you are forced to pay a monthly subscription plus the up front cost then that is also going to turn a lot of people off.
I doubt owning an iPhone with its own contract will have anything to do with this tablet thing (if it exists). It's a separate device. It'll probably be like a big iPod Touch with better graphics and the ability to get 3G internet (if you pay for monthly service... $30 or somewhere there about). Cheaper if you buy with a contract, more expensive without. That's why I think it's kind of lame. It's just another thing that can't run Live that's going to cost a lot of money and waste a lot of time. I'm sure the iPhone games are going to be a lot better on the tablet (if it does exist -that one was for you, dave).

The way I look at it is like, if this tablet thing had come out before the iPhone, we would have thought it was cool. But, if the iPhone came second, we would have throught the iPhone was better. The iPhone is a pocket sized Apple tablet. It's the better of the two gadgets to have, and we already have it. That's why I want my new MacBook Pro with i7 processors. Hoo la la la.

pfft. What could you possibly be doing in your life that's so important that you can't spend time trying to get those horrid iPhone music apps to work? lol.

I really don't get the mentality that anything with a computer chip in it and a large enough screen has to be able to run Live or it's useless. I think you'll feel differently when you see the plethora of music and controller apps that come out for it. May not be your cup of tea or priority but hardly falls under the useless flag.

ja. That's the real benefit here. There are some cool music apps that finally those of us with big fat pudgy fingers will be able to use.

inb4 djsynchro busts out his old, lame troll "it just works"

anyway, early adoption for this is something I've been telling everyone I know to avoid like the plague...first macbook pro had problems, first iphone had plenty of problems, and shit, look at this forum, full of live 8 early adoption whiners, although, it has been several months since it was first released and still lots of whining.

jumping on the first version of anything is for rich hipsters who have enough money to pay the overinflated price, and enough time to bitch about what they've gotten themselves into for months. Fortunately for me, I have neither, and have nothing but a hearty, Nelson Muntz-styled "ha, ha" for those people.

Or back grade your OS for the ultimate in stability. Pre Windows 7 humor still has to sting.

Maybe Microsoft can take a cue from Apple and have Bill Gates return to the helm and the glory days of cheap mediocrity.

All of it, Mr. Poopy Pants. 8)

And the iPhone was actually rock solid upon initial release. Connection problems on AT&T's end, but relatively few issues with the hardware/software.
