Spazi wrote:Hi guys, So far I'm loving Ableton Live. It's been a big part of my workflow
One thing that kicks me in the nuts is that I can't work with other DAW's
I like to record stuff and maybe get somebody else to mix it, but I can't if he uses Pro tools or nuendo and such.
Not to mention that I use Ableton to make scores for movies sometimes, and not being able to recieve a OMF/AAF file from a editing studio is a pain. I have to use Pro tools or Logic, which I really don't like :(
So OMF or AAF import/export would be ace!
Cosign! At least be able to import OMF2 with the handles.

ableton really needs to add support for aaf/omf - it's the one thing that i think is keeping live from being able to be considered a more industry standard, viable option in the film/video game soundtrack/sfx arena... i personally hate trying to compose scores with large orchestral banks using logic or protools due to ram issues, crashes etc; live is superb for this task(i've been able to run 100+ tracks flawlessly at once on a budget 2 core imac!) - plus since also an instrument it has so many features that make sketching out melodic ideas super efficient. but at the end of the day i always have to hand off the project to some protools mixing/mastering house which means an extra 5 hours for me to mixdown/convert this manually into a protools, nuendo or logic project. PLEASE ableton build in aaf/omf support so your app can play well with the big boy daw's!!

hi folks,

I purchased this:

http://www.aatranslator.com.au/

makes me importing and exporting from most of edit programs and DAWs on the market!

reaper to PT & return works perfect, but from and to Live is pretty good IMHO...

So does AATranslator allow you to import oaf files into ableton? If so how does it work?

Working for dance & movies, a best way to save different versions of the project could be great also …

As another solution I'd offer collaborating with Mixing & Mastering studio which provides Ableton oriented services - mine for instance.

10+ years of Ableton use experience. I do really love this DAW! It is great and so handy and very convenient for all my tasks!
5 years been before on Pro Tools and still provide services for PT users clients but for my personal projects Live is one and only choice.

Hit me up on PM here or via feedback form on link below.
