don't get me wrong. i like some pop music and i like some trance music. i don't lie to myself and convince myself that it's progressive house, though. i suppose i shouldn't have said that they were equally as bad. the original point was that Tiesto seems to be going in the same direction oakenfold did with the music he produces. it's more pop than it is trance.

aside from guys like Timbaland, Lil John, etc., pop music producers aren't very well-known. unless they had previously been artists or DJs themselves. i don't think the production is necessarily amazing in pop songs. a lot of the songs use high-quality pre-recorded samples. nothing that the average joe couldn't do. the thing these studios have that most average joes don't, is the arsenal of high-end studio gear, mics, high-quality plug-ins, great acoustics to record instruments, huge varieties of amps, time and money!

you're not much of a morning person are you, Beats?!

btw, i ate broccoli, cauliflower, lima beans, brussell sprouts, and all that when i was young and still do today!

Years before Tiesto was super well known he was already producing his own music it's part of the reason he got so far, he is good at both that and DJ-ing which is "playing Dance music live" if you think about it. Paul Daley (Left Field) is both a great producer & DJ then there's Cristopher Lawrence, Sister Bliss (Faithless), Ellen Allien, Miss Kittin the list goes on.

The problem is that he isn't great at either and his fame is largely based on being at the right place at the right time. I can't think of a better example of humans not liking change. They'll just continue to worship at the Tiesto alter.

Wow, that was really bad.

About 45 seconds in I went to kill it but I thought, no - have an open mind.

I made it about 30 more seconds, right until the point where he swooped his finger down onto the APC40, at 1:49. I did get a good chuckle when he lit the flare though.

The really funny thing is that it totally reminds me of Zlads "Electronic Supersonic" video -except Zlad's video is obviously parody.

I would do her. What's wrong guys? Focussing on the wrong parts of the video? Don't mute a lot of youtube for your own sake? It's 2010, you don't have to take the whole package any more these days.

That has got to be one of the most anemic, music by numbers,
total pile of eurotarnce shitebollocks that I've heard since
the eurovision song contest.

I've never been able to understand the Tiesto thing :?

Really - utter, utter bollocks 8O

Oh, and I cut my (dance music) teeth listening to Tarnce - Cafe Del Mar (original), 3 Drives Etc - Great tunes.
However I can't really think of more than a couple of decent ones since those days!
MacBook Pro, Mojave, Live 10, Logic Pro X, UAD Apollo & Satellites, UAD, NI Komplete, Izotope, Korg, Audio Damage, Fabfilter, Waves plugs.

This has nothing to do with subject maybe but the mixing & mastering engineers you hear on most pop radio songs are ridiculous, that's what impresses me. 14 vocal tracks with 6 different super short delays toward the left, 6 more toward the right, on every vocal track. The level of experience & skill is astounding, dudes knock out a Mary J. Blige mix in one day, 10am to 10pm. There's no comparison in songwriting, production, sound design, performance, mixing, etc. between a Lady Gaga track & most Trance since the latter is more traditional in that it's more color by numbers/follow the script- no collage effect that pop uses. Blah blah blah...
