I couldn't find that in the documentation anywhere, and after learning about it I still couldn't -- but I checked and they're right. It appears that by default, FS1 launches the currently selected scene and FS2 launches the currently selected clip.
That's fantastic news!
Which notes are used for the switches? Maybe we can answer "APC emulation" next time it comes up

FS1 sends MIDI CC64 (sustain pedal); FS2 sends MIDI CC67 (soft pedal). In both cases it sends a value of 127 when you press the pedal and 0 when you release it.
By default, FS1 appears to launch the current scene, and FS2 appears to launch the current clip.

Bumping this old thread as I've spent freakin' ages today trying to get a simple footpedal to do what it does when plugged in to the APC40 pedal socket 2 but without the APC.
The momentary pedal was plugged in to an Edirol keyboard and was definitely generating a MIDI message ( I could assign it to whatever using MIDI mapping) but where is the freakin' mapping option for 'launch selected clip'?
Has no-one sussed this without scripts or keystroke converters or whatever? Seems mental.

Im looking up how to map a foot pedal to "launch the selected clip" so I can record loops hands-free in to the session view.
And I'm discovering that you still can't do it.

You can, per track.
