I tried to, but couldn't find it after install? Maybe I'm just being dense. Anyone?

Will check again when I get home..

I can't find the standalone either. I don't think there is one; it says on their site that there is a standalone version, but it must be a mistake because I've seen this question on other forums and no one has found it yet.
I don't think there is one either... Image-Line tends to standardize the way products are viewed on their website even when the information shown, is actually irrelevant.

Thanks for confirming guys.

I don't want to sound like too much of a dick here, because it's a good deal as-is, but it is clearly advertised to include standalone version at this price, I think they should give it to us.

Naw, you don't sound like a dick. It's not unreasonable to expect what's offered. It also might simply mean that the standalone version is on it's way.

They did the same thing with Edison, which I'll never truly understand since Edison as a plugin was/is IMHO a dumb thing (musicradar.com agreed w/me too: http://www.musicradar.com/gear/all/comp ... 561/review

Anyway, the point of that mention was just that the Standalone was listed as an available platform for months before the standalone version was released. I don't think I'd be off-base at all to assume the same thing with Drumaxx now. In other words... if the standalone version is a deal breaker, then still pick this up now since it will probably be released later (but probably not at this low price). Just my 2 cents worth an opinion.

So you're thinking that if we bought it already, then the standalone becomes available later they might just give it to us?

That would be cool. Shouldn't they release a statement or something, surely this is confusing some people.

I just bought it for this reason and because I'm going to get my son onto FLStudio soon... plus I figured why not at that price, but I'm finding that while it can create some cool sounds, it's a little plastic and surprisingly lacking in bottom end

not sure why the lowest on the EQ is 80Hz, beefy kicks go lower than that....

anyway, it's the price of a 6 pack of beer and I'm on the wagon, so why not! ;-)

That's what I'd assume would happen, but if you're looking for an official response, you'd have to contact IL support.

When it came to Edison, the Standalone version was given freely to all who purchased it apart of the IL Juice Pack. This was done even though Edison was removed from the Juice Pack bundle.

^^
But have you tried the multi-outs to see if it would be any different then? I haven't tried to create any sounds yet, but I'd be surprised if you couldn't either create some more bass heavy kicks or just to add some subz to fatten things up if needed.

yeah, I mean it is useful some places, but there really isn't much going on in the sub range from the get go - just load it next to the Drum machines 909 or 808 set and compare them side by side

of course you can get them sounding beefier, but it's surprising how little there is to begin with.... I was just really surprised to see only 80Hz for the low end on the EQ ...

it's cool though, it's useful, even if only for the step sequencer.... that was my only thoughts on it really...

Hey, no worries! I just hadn't gotten around to giving this much playing time to see for myself, so I was curious if there was a way to add a bit more low end, than the 80Hz. Anyway, as soon as I get a chance I'll give it a go too, even though I do trust what you found. 8)

hehe, I *don't* ;)

This is a simple beat, no eq, especially not the built-in shaping one. Just my usual smattering of death-compression.

Yes, the presets are bad. Aren't all presets?
There's a pitch knob for each track. What might be happening is that the default kicks are tuned too high. That's easily handled.
In the clip above I just dial through a kick. It gets massive in a lot of different ways throughout. If you can't hear the sub there, it's because you dont have big enough speakerS!
Sorry, I had an open channel on my audio inputs, so there's a bit of hiss going on.

I'm on someone elses system with a sub at the moment which seems to over accentuate the lows

I've no doubt it can be shaped how ever you like, and admittedly I didn't play with it for long, but I had it side by side with some Ableton drum racks and there was a big difference if you compare sound off the bat and how much tweaking was needed. It surprised me how much more I had to Ffff around with it compared to the Ableton stuff or microtonic - I tried the pitch knob along with everything else (briefly... but not so briefly that I couldn't get a gut wrenching thump out of the Ableton 808 or 909 in the same amount of time) and all I'm saying is I didn't find it was that beefy from the get go - especially with the 80Hz eq thing..

anyway, likesay it has it's uses, and I may use it more as a kind of instant breakbeat/loop thing where there is already kick/bass in the mix, just for creating some kind of polyrhythmic stuff. But even there, aside from the step sequencer I think AAS/Ableton's collision is in a totally different league.. but then you'd hope so when this was only 13 bucks! ;-)
