- yes yes. god it winds me up when people slate fruityloops - i don't want to get into a apps debate either but fruity is pro. for gods sake. its an infinite sampler with vst/dx support....if you put shit in any program you're gonna get shit out of it...(thats the biggest criticism I hear about fruity - that it sounds crap, "unprofessional" - thats bullshit) ..people who dis fruity have never used it properly.....fruity is don. i only wish i could hook it up solidly with Live.........that would be a wicked combination..blaknoize wrote:P.S. - I'm a "pro". I use FruityLoops. That makes it a "pro" app in my book. It can do quite a few things other "pro" apps can't. If they dropped the silly name and called it "SampleStudio Pro X 3000" or something and charged $500, everyone would want it.
We weren't really comparing the features of Live with Fruity Loops - just the sound. That said, what I really want is ACID for the Mac - while Live goes way beyond in some respects, in others it's not quite there yet. Yes I can use something else for full-on MIDI sequencing, but if I just want to add a kick drum behind a loop, I see no reason why I should go to another program when a one-shot mode and more quantize options will do the trick.claudek wrote:Live was not meant to act as a midi sequencer or drum machine.. Hard to compare what you are trying to do..Live does a excellent job for what its mission was intended for..Quit worying so much and use Live for what it does best and use other apps with it to complete your needs
I heard the TC Powercore card works very good with Live. There are very good Plug ins!!!:)jazze wrote:I 've been using Live to DJ in the clubs for quite a while now and find it amazing revolutionary app... BUT i am constantly strugling with the EQ settings ... one night it might sound OK and the next... all muffled.
So, I wonder how you guys improve the sound quality coming out of computer when you play live with LIVE?
What settings in Live or external sound gear you guys use( Sound system , outboard EQ's etc.)
I mean what would be the best Compression and EQ settings in Live for general DJing .. and how should the EQ settings than bei altered in the club sound system?

Let me ask you something:blaknboize wrote:The reason you're hearing such a difference is because the loop made with FruityLoops is louder. Normalizing simply brings the peaks to digital maximum, but by checking the average (RMS) level, you will see that the FruityLoops one is on average about 2dB louder than the Live one. If you used a VU meter (I use PSP's 'Vintage Meter') you would see the difference instantly. And louder sounds "better" to most people.
Post your files again WITHOUT normalizing so I can test and match the levels.
Yeah,,,TC rocks!!!Anonymous wrote:I heard the TC Powercore card works very good with Live. There are very good Plug ins!!!:)jazze wrote:I 've been using Live to DJ in the clubs for quite a while now and find it amazing revolutionary app...
