ya that's a nice fuck-you reminder.
since you seem to be following this... what kind of OS will the HP slate run ? will it be a retard proof stripped down OS like the iPad ? And what's the story with apps ? will it run standard windows .exe files...or ?

I think whichever device is the more suited for retard usage will prevail

It's funny when people say Flash sucks. Especially when they complain about Flash ads on websites.

Does anyone honestly think that when HTML5 finally emerges in full force that you won't still have interactive razzledazzle ads?

You'll have them. They will suck. They'll just be delivered in a different format.

And people just don't get it when it comes to whining about Flash being a resource hog. Flash in and of itself can be blazingly fast, or slow as molasses - it all depends on the designer and the coding. That isn't going to change one fucking bit with HTML5 or any other format. If someone uses a 20MB of images when building a Flash piece, then uses the same 20MB when using HTML5, it's all the same. Worse for HTML5, in fact, because it doesn't have inherent compression capabilities.

ffs. :P

Don't care about flash.

Being able to play the Air Hockey app in large format is worth the price of admission alone.

I think any disappointment is going to stem from the ultra geeks looking for this thing to replace a laptop. I have a loptap and am not looking to replacement it. So my disappointment level is at about a zero.

Supposedly Windows 7. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13924_3-10454743-64.html

I hold out no hope for a retard proof Windows OS on the HP. Their mobile OS's have all been complete ASS. But who knows? Maybe this one will be stable?

Apps? No idea. That's where Apple is head and shoulders above everyone else. It'll be the iPad's only saving grace. Maybe.

Explain this. Looks like the most comprehensive and elegant e-reader I've ever seen.

bona fide e-readers are extremely high contrast, they are alot like an electronic etch-a-sketch in that the battery power is only used to display the page once and the 'ink' stays on display. As such, they are easier on the eyes and you can read war & peace from start to finish on a single charge with plenty of juice left over. And they are appropriately sized.

iPad the most comprehensive elegant e-reader you've ever seen ? what in god's name do you plan on reading ? the fucking funnies ? Have you actually tried reading a book on a computer screen before ?

Admittedly I've never used an e-reader so all I can only go by what I've seen on the net. But given that I'm still not sure what some of your complaints are. I'm sure you can adjust the contrast of the screen and you can also change the font and the font size to whatever works best for you.

I'll also admit that I have very few issues with battery life on anything - laptops, phones, mp3 players, etc. because I almost always have a charger on me somewhere and when possible it's plugged into that. I like "on the go" technology but am rarely on the go in transit or in bumfuck with no charging options so this hasn't really been a deciding factor for me. When a battery does get low or die on me I just look at it as a welcome break from technology and leashes.

Alright then. You guys carry on with your flash, e-reader, and battery life superiority debate while I'll just use this thing and be happy with it. Guess I don't know or care what I'm missing out on.

They probably want to keep the spotlight on the iPad. I guess after April 3rd we'll have better chances.

Sometimes the manliest response is no response or just a short response.

Wanna make an exes head explode? Next time she writes some long winded update on her life just respond back with "yup". That'll frustrate her more than if you didn't respond back at all and she'll analzyze it for months to come.

The reason the logo doesn't glow is because it would drain more life out of the battery I don't care about. :)
