That can be true but sometimes a good pad (for me) can be the thing that makes a tune, I'm a sucker for em too.

I know a lot of people think the links in my signature are to my line of designer perfumes and scented oils but really they're to my music. This whole time. But 2009 was a real music dry spell for me so it is like starting over I guess.

IMO so much can be conveyed with just a single pad sound that no other single sound would be able to do. This isn't to say that sounds like piano and guitar couldn't do this either, but nowhere near the fullness of a pad. But this can also lead to mixing issues too because they can take up the full frequency spectrum that doesn't give a lot of other sounds room to breathe or you lose something you felt was important to the sound when making room for other instruments.

I can not tell you yet if I like the tracks better or the presentation,
or which track is my favorite,
for I have yet to take the final test: detector in hand...

Alas my libido is not what it used to be the last couple of days,
but nothing a bit of wah wah couldn't cure

(just for gods sake be not talked into donking your tracks up,
every donk is like achieving average optimal arousal temperature by holding a blowtorch to one testicle
and liquid nitrogen to the other)

(pads on the other hand are quite sexy, especially when they are used)

(sorry for the confusion: the parts where it says "I like your tracks" and "I like the way you present them here"
are 100% humor-free)
