This is one good thing about Nomad compared to RND (that, is a tragic tale in itself, 80's style corporate raiding almost), Nomad give three unlocks before you have to email them for more. When my logic board on the laptop died, Nomad was easily one of the easiest instals. Audio Ease was the worst by far, and one unlock like RND.
I would be OK with an iLock if I had all my plug ins on a Receptor racked in a big road case that wasn't easily walked off with, and that's about it.

Do any of you guys who have the Nomad compressor also have The Glue? If so how do they compare please?

The Glue models the SSL G+ buss compressor, The Nomad Factory models the Neve 2254 compressor (or a stereo version of it at least, so technically a 33609). They have a different sound.

The Glue is great at emulating the SSL G buss compressor, as featured on 10 zillion hits from the 80s and still popular today. It is also used frequently on drum busses and overheads and can be quite subtle to add 'glue' to a mix, or smack pretty hard. The Glue also adds a wet/dry and range control, plus allows you to sidechain EQ filter, for New York compression tricks etc.

The Neve has a slightly different sound, while it can pack a punch, it can be a nice sounding fairly transparent sounding compressor which is well respected. People have always liked it's effect on snare in particular.

Do you get more than 1 install with this package? I actually have ordered and downloaded it, but have yet to install it..
I chose the intel version, but would also like to get a ppc version to, if allowed..
Also, I chose the Ilok version as I have the m-powered pro tools Ilok..There won't be any problems installing this on this Ilok, will there? Don't want to mess with my pro tools in any way..

You know what, listening to that comparison of compressors.. really helped me appreciate that it really is depending on what you're wanting to achieve as to what tool to use. tbh I don't think you get a very clear from a youtube clip sound quality wise.. but it does give the idea pretty well.. Anyway from that shootout I thought all of the compressors used sounded good apart from the sonalksis SV315 and the PSP Mastercomp.. mainly for how they were handling the cymbals..

My next question is how important is it to be so 'finikity' over all of this?
I can appreciate the use of different tools for different jobs... Esp in 'real' recording situations..
But to most people and listeners.. how much difference do all these things REALLY make?
