Tactile controls are entirely overrated and exist as a pacifier to make people who don't actually play an instrument feel better and 'connected' to the music.

:P

Not sure if you're missing that it's multi touch. With a mouse you can only click on one thing at a time. With this you can mess with as many things as you have fingers for.

Do you take issue with the lemur?

But I do agree a certain amount of tactile controls can help depending on the situation.

no! don't get all emo guyliner... meant in the best possible way

@beats, yes, i get that it is multitouch and that is good. And, again, the notion of being able to load different virtual controllers into one "frame" is good.

But I think in a not so much more bit of time you will be able to load the same sort of virtual controllers onto the same unit you're running Live on. I'm on a 17" windows notebook and I'm imagining a future model that provides a way to flip the display down over the keyboard and use it as a multitouch controller and that has enough processing power to run both Live and the controller UI. [edit] and I'm sure there will be a mac with the same sort of capability.

This video provides a preview of the world`s first instrument for iPad, “KORG iELECTRIBE for iPad”, based on a complete port of the Korg Electribe-R and features preset patterns and powerful master effects that you can use right away.

et tu korg ?
why isn't this being released multi-platform including osx/xp ?

Agreed those options will be out there but I still think there is the need to have controllers that aren't on the same screen as your main application, are portable, and you are able to create a layout that works best for you instead of the manufacturer's/designer's best guess.

Probably not for everyone, but even scifi movies agree the future will be all touch screens for everything. :)

I would assume one reason would be stability since it's all contained in the iPad and it's OS which isn't open source and therefor doesn't allow for all the fuck ups people can cause on their computers, PCs or Macs.

I've been waiting anytime now when a wireless-midi sync function becomes available for the iTouch family of Apple's badassness. This whole iPad concept just might be better than I originally took it to be.

Surely Korg can tackle the iPad/software concept even more & make a iKaoss Pad??

Once again iElectribe = Clever FTMFW badass idea.
