Just in case, here's a very well written article/interview about the company behind the Lemur:

2000€ vs 400(?)€.. Lemur is a bit overpriced these days?

Ha ha,
You lemur boys wont give up eh?
good good.
I liked the point where someone was saying that you can use a stylus.
Who's going to perform with a magic wand?!??!
Anyway the Lemur is cool older tech, but lets face it, there's gonna be loads of kiddies rocking their ipads as controllers and not so many using the lemur just cos of the price difference.
Yeah sure the lemur is built for live use and more robust.
But the Ipad is LOADS cheaper.
And the functionality of both iss similar enough to make it a mac vs pc debate ultimately.
Betamax i say ultimately tho. . .

I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

Has anyone banged out beats with the Lemur? One thing I've never seen is a drumpad surface.

^This is the only drumpad interface I've seen for the iPad so far.....

I clearly understand both sides and: to each it's own!
The most claiming here is about the price, well, yeah...
In first place there was envy to those people having one,
and now as the iPad was announced these people start kidding, strange world.
But hey, you wouldn't buy such a thing if you haven't got any clue what to do with it, he?
Same in the past where synths weren't cheap either! You've chosen carefully..
And as mentioned, yeah the Lemur has a bit more developing background and
capabilities of the touchpanel (for example more than the use of your fingertips,etc...)
you should read the interview I posted earlier, a good read though!
Also I love the internal processes for the knobs', faders'.... movements called "physics"
so you have more workflow. That's something what lacks in the nowadays apps.
You only change the parameter you're touching (well, at the moment, but maybe there
will getting things like this done in future apps)
Nevertheless I'm in love for gadgets... and I like the iPad as well
but will wait and see what time tells about it.
For now the Lemur definitely fits my needs more; that's all. Peace!

Yeah, there are some built like XOX-Style in Sequencers but as a Drumpad I have an AKAI2000-ish MPC version on it:

and on the so called "Mu" there's also a Drumrack built in but not ready for use, yet...

that's pretty cool. I have a question about touch screen's in general. Are they eventually going to replace drum pads. I don't mean for just triggering loops, but will they be able to be as good for banging out beats as the korg pad kontrol. If so that is unreal. I was always worried that my fingers would even up breaking a touch scree.skeet wrote:LoopStationZebra wrote:Has anyone banged out beats with the Lemur? As long as the touch screens aren't velocity sensitive like drum pads I don't think they will replace them...HeadrickProductions wrote:that's pretty cool. For just playing some sketches and triggering they are definitely recommendable!
I mean, for "real" playing I would (and will thanks to Subfunk) get a Maschine for the Drumparts of my tracks!
Or as you mentioned the very good Pad Kontrol!
Cheers

ever meet a drummer? not the type of guy you'd want hitting a piece of glass. give mongo industrial rubber pads to bang on and hope he doesn't chew on your Lemur's ethernet cable.
Driveways - the tone of the video at the end was great, if you can have that relaxed posture for the entire video that'd be great. not that the first 3/4 of it were bad. must be nice working in the candy shop.

Thanks Toney! Presenting on camera is weird, but you get a little better at it each time you do it.Tone Deft wrote:ever meet a drummer? not the type of guy you'd want hitting a piece of glass. give mongo industrial rubber pads to bang on and hope he doesn't chew on your Lemur's ethernet cable.

Working in the candy store has its perks, but it takes a toll on your finances.

I am a drummer and that's why I am curious about where this technology is going and if they will be velocity sensitive in the long run. I am pretty sure that I can break an ipad with my ring finger, and it would probably take two mabye three to break the mutant.
