I play guitar and sing at the same time, I don't have access to a full-time bass player due to schedule. The music I am using as examples in my links are both sampled bass, and since that's the sound I like; I think the samples will work fine. Basically my computer is my backing band and Ableton is my sampler/sequencer. I am using the built in instrument (Tension)per suggestion and it's working very well!

If I said "Fuck Samples" what the hell would Ableton be good for anyway(?) it's all sampled sounds and Sequencing.

sure, sample it up - but start with your own thwacking

It's pretty obvious that SOM originated that bass sound from an actual bass.
It's easier and quicker to plug in a bass, grab a plectrum and try a few amp simulations to get the right sound (and then chop it all up) , rather than attempting to construct the sound in Tension.

So yes, samples, but of a bass.

I usually agree, samples of real instruments, but I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed with Tension. I'm still new to Ableton but I'll get some sound files up before too long.... Thanks for all the help.
