it was a last minute thing unfortunately and i'm a noob.

lol thanks all...i'll seriously give those suggestions a try, found this link on the noise gate

yeah you didn't say it was a wedding thing.. in that case.. they won't mind a little wind/quality issues..
again... the "noise gate" will stop the wind only between the words...

I think if you don't want to spend money on some fancy noise removal plugin...
the audacity tip is the best one :
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... se_Removal

...you try to get a 'sample' of just the noise.. and the audacity plug phase inverts it out of your audio...pretty simple actually

They asked me to record it last minute and I just happened to carry my zoom everywhere.
the setup wasn't so bad, I just wasn't able to shelter it as well as I would've liked.

it was a bit choppy with the noise gate, i downloaded FZero's Single Knob Filter (http://code.google.com/p/skf-vst/) and that worked a lot better, but some of the highs are still affected.
I know it's difficult (or impossible) to clean audio, so I might settle on this (maybe I should ask them to dub it over haha).

I'll try the noise remover in audacity, thank you for the suggestion.
