my favorite notebook PC froze up last night, I hard reset, when it came back the screen was blank but the HDD was whirring. I got out my other notebook PC and got info from the support page that suggested hooking up an external monitor to see if there was anything going on. There was, got it restarted in safe mode, then tried the startup repair to see if that would fix it. It went on for a while, then said it couldn't fix it. I got with the tech support via chat and they suggested a HDD test from bios, so now I am doing that. So this is all somewhat frustrating, although progress is being made, and all along for entertainment I have been berating Apple fanboys who snicker into their turtlenecks at just this sort of thing that Windows users go thru.
go on, snicker away.
[edit] also, the effing HDD test takes about an hour. yeh, tee hee all over yourselves.
