Yeah, of course it's generic midi.
I think especially for Ableton you cannot design the perfect controller... people have so many different workflows, even with different layouts you cannot make everybody happy. I suppose the live-users with unlimited layout possibilities moaned very much about the layout and on top you have very much competition nowadays... that could have lead to the decision not to go the "dedicated for Live"-route anymore.

I use it with the beat repeats, for the filter, say, you loop the master, 'boom tsivbak tsi boom tsi bak tsi", then with the joystick you filter that loop to the subs, then slooooooowly move it up to the highs... mmmm cool

even stronger when there is a bit reducer or distortion , you get that euro rave hardcore disto filter tweakability in no time, even from a simple house track



for the rest of your post, I agree there is lots of competition, but for me its a big -1 for faderfox...

the LV2 was REALLy great, and I was REALLY curious about a supposed LV3...

anyway I can still get a 2nd hand LV2 if I want a 2nd unit. and, running on batteries with standard midi cables is also IMHO a great +1.

The chances of getting a cheap LV2 will never be better than in the next few weeks ...
