i use an RME multiface 2 and i've never noticed any crosstalk or bleed.

i didn't realize the programs made a difference...

there is no crosstalk that matters in RME interfaces.. at least not the ones with break out box..and you only should go for such.. evrything else is a sound card.

If one experiances such problems he has fucked up the wiring and in general no clue how to set levels aso

anyway.. if you have a soundcard that has wordclocking and aes ebu I/O yopu might use external converters..

theese days you can get realy decend oldscool converters for little money..

so its actually possible to have one stereo 19 inch 1HU box for input and one for output for less than 200 euro... stuff that was new 4000 euro or more but not wnated anymore becasue only 20 bit and 44/48 k...

but still better than a cheapo 24 bit 96 converter... that includes firefaces...


old second hand high end is allways better than newish kid toy stuff...



And there is an old rule by thumb.. dont have anything labled behringer in the audio chain...that especially applies to mixing desks..

what firewire chipsets do the old blackbook macbooks core 2 duos have?

new laptops don't even have PCMCIA slots anymore. and Express Card is faster. it's the difference between PCI and PCI-e slots on a desktop computer.
and that isn't pre-2009. i've got two laptops that were purchased in 2007 that have express card slots on them. i ended up giving away my old echo indigo dj card to a friend because of that.

I've just started using the M-audio Fast Track Ultra with Live 8. It's not sounding good. Quite a few crackles and pops, even with the largest buffer sizes. Gonna try it with Live 7 for comparison once I've got an extra unlocking code. Has anyone had the same issues with the Fast Track Ultra and been able to resolve them ?

+1 absolutely, i will never understand the "ignorance" of the signal chain and it's weakest link...

i have seen horrible things, like RME interfaces and top monitors and then using a behringer monitor controller... ARRGGHH...

or some cheap pres or whatever...

look at your chain and choose something that keeps the quality level on a constant.

Motu Ultralite for studio and NI Audio Kontrol1 for gigging.

+1 on the Saffire Pro 24. It works flawlessly so far in my Vista(32) notebook... even using the inbuilt 4-pin Ricoh port! I'm ordering a proper expresscard to firewire 400 adapter with the TI chipset.
My only concern is that none of the new laptops(PC or MAC) that are shipping have firewire nor expresscard slots... just USB. So this unit is already obsolete as I'm thinking of replacing my laptop.
