The Rokits were my second favorite. IMHO, they were slightly muddier than the Yamahas, but still very very good, and at a great price.

Depends on the budget, but I just got a pair of KRK VXT4 and they're awesome, nicer than the new line of Genelecs that I find a bit mushy... very clear.
If I had a bigger room I'd get the vxt 6...

Love these threads. For every praise heaped on a certain speaker there's a counter "I found it lacking……". Extraordinary for the general amount of money we're talking here. You'd think at a certain price point, lets say $400+ per speaker, they would all sound damn awesome.

That's why I only mix on Apple earbuds. I have about 17 sets from all the iProducts I've bought over the years and none of them have gone bad.

i can agree to that. "tighter" sound in the yamahas, faster response. but the rokits matched my taste and budget =)
