Hi Jamie,

when Live crashes and you restart it, a bug reporting lesson opens. This lesson contains a link to the bug reporting alp. Just click on the name "Ableton Bug Report <date> <time> <Live version>.alp". This will open an explorer window with the file. In case the lesson does not open, you can find these alps in

C:\Users\<your login>\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live Reports.

If you cannot see the AppData folder, follow these steps in Windows Explorer:

• Click on "Organize" in the upper left corner.
• Choose "Folder options" from the drop-down menu.
• Click on the "View" tab in the window that opens.
• Select "Show hidden files and folders."

Should the "Live Reports" folder be empty, please select "Report a Bug..." from Live's "Help" menu. This will create a bug report package and open the corresponding lesson.

The "Ableton Bug Report ... .alp" file contains all the information we need to investigate your crashes, including your preferences folder and Log.txt. You do not need to manually attach anything else to your email. In case you need to find your preferences folder for some other reason, though, you can choose "Get Support..." from Live's help menu. This opens a lesson which contains the link "Show the Preferences folder".

That's the location on Windows XP. On Vista and 7, the "Application Data"-folder was renamed to "AppData" and moved to C:\Users\<login>. Windows also differentiates between a "Local" profile and "Roaming" profile. So the "Ableton" folder is now at

C:\Users\<login>\AppData\Roaming\Ableton.

Thanks Tobias for your time. With your fast acces to the preferences folder i was able to trash pref.
Upon live restart i opened up one of the tricky songs that was continually crashing live.
Song opened - great
listed missing 3rd party plugins
so went to preferences and rescan steinberg vst folder
Crash which shutdown computer just like before
Restart computer
RFestart Live
Live gives me a message that camel audios vst fx camel sapce caused the previous crash would i like to skip including it.
i agree skip it
live rescans all is good
open up old problem file and song loads !

So it would appear in my instance camel audio's vst fx camel space became a problem.
it has sat there for the last 7 months behaving nicely since my switch over to win 7 64 in Jan
Will investigate abd download lates version of camel space.

But at least we have abreakthrough for me.

Sometimes and othertimes definately not. But that hasnt stopped either of those songs which contain older or newer warping crashing live. Why do you ask ?

Sounds like you found your crash problem.

I only asked bout warped audio clips, cause the 8.1.4 changed some warp parameters for me,
which was the cause of some of my crash issues.

I think some others were also having similar probs.

started opening some old projects (8.1.1) and the cpu hits around 80% and audio stutters.. i open the same file in 8.1.1 and it's fine.. on the good side is 8.1.4 hasn't crashed on me yet but having problems with older sets is a big no no..

well, i don't understand this program, i mean my biggest 'issue' is that it feels like ableton live is somewhat organic in it's behaviour.

i installed 8.1.4 and i had some real bad CPU spikes that would literally freeze and cause a hi pitched / crackling noise, that only disappeared after force quitting live, therefor i went back to 8.1.3 which is so far the best version for me... then just out of curiosity i tried 8.1.4 over the last two days again, cause those spikes have happened only rarely... now i don't get the spikes anymore but kernel panics and my CPU temp jumps to ver 80 degree instantly launching 8.1.4, how is this possible??? i really don't understand that at all...

i mean i am admittedly not a computer nerd at all, so i have only a very little clue, but i have been told that kernel panics are usually a case of faulty memory blocks... but i only get them with having 8.1.4 running and the CPU heat jumping through the roof...

anyone?

i really like to understand the issue i had already a few times before (with L8) that the 'behaviour' changes over time, without manipulating or changing my system, plugs, updates or anything else at all, just plain out random...

back to 8.1.3 which serves OK-ish, just a few minor issues i have with that.

after using it for a while i can say..its not crashing.. but behaving funny and weard in many aspects.. to much to mention..extrem latencys on fader moves.. but only sometimes.. appearnce of brown henke dither when doing recordings in timecode sync. aso...

however... in relation to before thats a good performance .. but dont call that thing daw... theese daw word includes something like "trusted production tool"
