Check this in case you want to save money and get previous generation, have patience they have MBPs coming in all the time and sometimes going at very low prices:
http://computer.shop.ebay.de/Computer-/ ... 11.c0.m282
I met them in real life nice people, interesting concept, lots of rich people in Frankfurt (and rest of Germany) who ALWAYS MUST get the newest whatever. The idea is they flip whatever they have for new product or Amazon, or other retailers vouchers.
The most interesting part is the 1 year warranty and all those products they sell.
I took MBP from them was really like new, I was amazed (at the great price) but anyway changed my mind and decided to rather get the latest model. Was no problem getting full refund.
BTW. I did get newest 13`since I didn't want "i" processor since I dont believe they are all that great-too hot = noise. I hate heat and noise, want max battery power and portability. My record so far was 11 hours of mobile use. Will get myself 15`for studio from next generation ( when the "i" CPUs will mature while the 13´is and will be my main on the move notebook ( and stage as for both, mobile and live I dont use VSTs in excess and dont like anything bigger than 13).

groumpf: we dont even have an apple store :/ only a distributor but no Refurb

rikhyray: thanks for the link ... ill check it out ;-)

about mbp 13 ... i dont mind to go for it finally ..

core2duo 2.4 is old but should be ok for live and traktor

i dont use many external and heavy plugins ... just sylenth - sampletank and some t-racks

worse scenario : MBP 13 and if not happy + an SSD (speed - less power - less heat - less weight - less GB's ;p)

If you need mobility (as that is what i wanted new notebook for) the 13 MBP is the best value/power/battery for the money only Vaio Z is better but at almost double price. All other that can run so long on batteries have low voltage CPUs and shitty integrated graphics. As clever as they are Apple chosen probably the best CPUs (power vs.battery live vs temps/noise) of that C2D generation.
If you want to do any video work on it, or run dozens of Arturias, forget about it get the i Series CPU but reasonable audio work with all the mobile options it is the best deal right now.

I have the 13" MBP 2.4 and it rocks; also you may like to know the i5 and i7 are having some issues with the graphics card freezing. Some are having to be returned as they will not even switch off, and you cannot remove the battery to force the shut-down. 8O
