I liked Oblivion a lot too, forgot to mention that one.

With Red Dead I'm just not really into the whole Western motif thing, cowboys and such bore me. Never really got into the GTA games either.

Good to hear that both AC II and Alan Wake are good, maybe I'll just flip a coin between those two.

I have to say, Final Fantasy XIII was a pretty big let down for me, and that's the series that got me into RPG's and video consoles in the first place. Awesome graphics and the paradigm thing was cool, but the story was just a mess to follow. Didn't even really feel like a FF game until chapter 10 or when you could finally explore, and by then all I wanted to do was finish the damn thing. Very disappointing.

Dead Rising would have fucking ROCKED. If it weren't for the INSANELY STUPID SAVING SYSTEM. One of those where you can save only at certain locations, and those locations are fucking a LONG way from one another and you get screwed time after time.

I'm curious about the latest AvP game....

Well yeah, RDR is basically GTA in the Wild West. Great story though. Killer ending.

If you ever played games like Metroid or Super Metroid then you should get Shadow Complex from the Live Arcade. It's basically the same kind of gameplay with suped-up graphics.

The Batman: Arkham Asylum game is pretty sweet. Best comic book game yet for sure.


I dunno, I've been going retro lately and playing old adventure games like King's Quest that I loved as a kid. I wish more developers would go back to some of that kind of gameplay. I'm rambling now, but my dream game would be an open-world GTA style game with an adventure-style gameplay.

Apparently Rock Star's upcoming L.A. Noire is going to be somewhat in that vein. Can't wait.

I always liked sci fi and fantasy RPG's myself, only recently getting into FPS's thanks to Dead Space and Mass Effect 2. Really wish Demon Souls would come to the XBOX, but that's not going to happen.

ACII is great. The ending is a bit farked, but on a whole the game is great. Many times I would just randomly sneak up, assassinate innocent people and cackle, it never got old.

Resident Evil 5? I don't know if you've ever played the older ones, but it's a lot like Resident Evil 4, but with co op added. Playing online with a friend is awesome; I've been playing it on Professional online recently trying to get all of the trophies (I have the PS3 version), and it's pretty damn fun.

Also agreeing about Assassin's Creed 1 being a bit boring. It was the first game to make me interested in buying a next gen console, and when I finally played it a couple months ago, it was kind of a letdown with how it stays the same throughout the game. Haven't played the second yet, but I really hope it's a lot better.

I hope so, because I really liked the atmosphere and setting of the first, and when an assassination is pulled off perfectly (like I did with the guy on the boat), it's awesome. But more often than not, I would somehow mess up like 200 feet away from the target and have the entire city on my ass, so instead of "Assassin's Creed" it would be "Swordsman Fighting Off Every Annoying Soldier And Dying Before Even Reaching The Target's Creed."

metro 2033 is good. it's got an incredible atmosphere and good story.

Almost exactly my experience too. Of the whole flag thing, you collected them and got.... nothing? Lame.

Alan Wake scared the shit out of me. Great game though, especially if you like Stephen King. Plus the free downloadable addon came out last week. You get a voucher in the box. I did Easy mode in a weekend so recommend normal or higher to spread it out.

My colleague got bored with assasins creed 1 but loves 2.

We are both middle aged gamers, if that helps.

I agree with you that Rockstars games can get quite monotonous. Spend 10 minutes driving there just to get killed and have to do it all again. Now you get to do that on a horse!

Ass creed is a major bore fest. I felt I was doing a monotonous job with that shit. How is 2 better? I have never played it.
