I feel like I should add that if you're on a budget (who isn't) then learning the tools you already have is gonna do you more good than anything. As much as it drives me nuts when people say, "if you take an EQ8 and a Saturator etc. you can get pretty close to these vintage emulations" cos i think there's more to it than that, but there's still a lot of truth there. You'll learn things out of neccesity that will help you more than any certain plugin. I'm just saying while it's about what you do with your tools, the tools matter too and people work really hard to make one amazing effect plugin, and I'm glad when I get a chance to use them.
