Oh yeah and one other question - who is doing the manufacturing/selling (anywhere in Europe?) and will there be assembled boards available?

About manufacture, we are working on component list and wondering the possibility of get ready some developer kits. About "ready for use" kits, it is not usually in DIY comunity to take them assembled but (when they were released) if you need one assembled drop us a mail.

Ah, I see the serial protocol diagrams now. A bit advanced for my brain but then I'm new at this stuff
I do know what you mean re the DIY thing, I just think I'll go insane if I have to do any more hardware troubleshooting plus I'm already ~€100 down because I tried to go 'my own way'!
Will follow this closely on the monome forums - hopefully will at some stage be able to make some useful contribution to the project!
