Just checked with the latest version of Live 5 and it didn't work with me.

Yes, with Live you can group tracks. There's just one annoying thing: if you solo the group track, you hear nothing. You have to solo all tracks in the group too. In Cubase (Logic, Sonar?) just soloing the group is enough.

how can you group ?
you cant, you can route multiple tracks into a single track (many to one)
but its not a group of any kind. there are no global operations you can do on multple tracks routed this way: cant solo the group, nest in a folder, edit the group etc
you can automate parameters on the "mix" channel and apply sends to it but this isnt really the same thing

I will add my vote for groups. This is something that is really needed. We need to be able to send different parts to the same group, and have effects applied to those groups.
Groups are goooooood....
