Historically Ableton has had the feature request to record automation directly into clips in Session view logged since at least Live 5, and probably Live 4.
In short; it would be nice, but I would NOT spend my time wishing for it. It'll only make you sad.
Instead just enjoy what makes your software of choice fun. If you need to have an iphone app to get inspired, then go there, too.

Im not, and I do enjoy it! The first post was a bit ranty, as it was the mood that I had that day. I have edited it now. Should be a bit more fair and readable.
