if they have trial versions, try them out.

I've got Revalver Mk3 and Amplitube 3, theyre both great and they both sound different. I also use free stuff like LePou's LeGion with a cab IR in Voxengo Boogex.

No harm in experimenting. :)

My philosophy was, if you had good clean sound, than your distorted or otherwise effected sound would be of the highest quality. I couldn't afford to keep that precious JC-120, but it is modeled most accurately in GR4, and is the base amp for nearly all of my sounds. I can relate to not liking the clean tones in GR, probably because they model their respective amps with some accuracy, but since the Roland is modeled in GR, I have found my final resting place.

Thanks for the tip! I'll check out their model of the JC-120 next time I'm playing around with guitar sounds. I definitely agree about your philosophy of getting a good clean sound and a distorted sound will follow. I feel like the distortion hides the digital-ness of the model. Though there are plenty of distortion connoisseurs that will disagree! Since most of my sound is clean or slightly overdriven that's what I worry about.
I in no way meant to sound like an advertisement for NI, but I am stoked to have discovered "my amp" in software form. I hope you will report back your findings. I like the JC-120 model with matched cabinet, but you can throw other cabs on it to get different tones. Let me know what you think.
