maybe your hard drive is dodgy... do you get system stalls doing other stuff, or only with Live?

partitioning can lower disk performance, especially if the way you have set things up forces the hard drive heads to seek madly across the platters. how big is the drive, and how did you set up the partitions?austin-dj-uk wrote:I'm clutching at straws here but if I have my MP3's on a separate partition on my HD do you think it would cause this problem??

If you want to test if it's the partitioning, just copy your mp3 directory to your main partition, and DJ for a few hours.
Then get back to us.
Then get back to us.

Re: ANYONE HELP WITH SOUND DROP OUT ISSUE???
I switched all my files on to my main drive earlier and testing it out tonight. My drive is 250gb with main partition 219GB. The other partitions were already there and held recovery files but I reformatted the smaller partition when I installed the 64bit OS. Thought I was being clever tidying my MP3 files to a separate partition....maybe not!! Thinking out loud..I didn't have any problems before when everything was on an non-partitioned drive.
Thanks again guy's, never used a forum before and its cool to know that people really do take an interest in what other people are doing!
I'll let you know how the test run goes..

All sorted boys and girls!! 3 hours of non stop spinnin' tunes and not a drop in sight!! Hard drive partition was the problem....thanks again for taking the time and trouble
Re: ANYONE HELP WITH SOUND DROP OUT ISSUE???
very cool. could you elaborate a bit on the problem and solution? we can add that to the list of stuff to check the next time someone has this problem.

Re: ANYONE HELP WITH SOUND DROP OUT ISSUE???
think its an maudio issue... their 64 bit drivers are betaish anyway...
lots of discussion on maudio board...
since i am on a laptop atm, i removed the maudio , hooked up a audio2dj temporarily and am waiting till the babyface comes out...
edit: i used a fw410 on my laptop setup

i'm guessing that the small partition is on the inside of the disk?austin-dj-uk wrote:I switched all my files on to my main drive earlier and testing it out tonight. Re: ANYONE HELP WITH SOUND DROP OUT ISSUE???
I got a similar problem explained here mN;
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... +drop+outs
Still got no idea whats causing it, even set half the tracks in the set to ram mode, and still random drop outs. all wifi and firewallm, antivirus off here too &*&^%%$$£"!
this is the only thing i not tried yet, funny cause i tried the set once on my borrowed lappy similar spec, and it had NO PARTITION and i didint get one drop out. Ive even replaced the HD with a 7200rpm positive that this was the probem, changed soundcard to a saffire USB from a novation nio im also at my wits end. Gotta be the partition me thinhks.
