sashas new live mixer / controller
Re: sashas new live mixer / controller
Interesting post. Why dont you publish a photo of the backside so we can see if its purely a midi/USB controller or it is a fully functional audiomixer combined with midi.kinsolian wrote:took a couple of sly pics with my camera phone.. check it out.
was chatting with sashas engineer. he said it's been ready for a couple of months, but there was a small bug they wanna iron out before they take it on the road in a month or so.
i've gotta tell you.. it's pretty fucking cool!
.
Obviously it is aimed at the Proffessionel DJ market and it looks very professional and well thought with all the light leds telling what is going on in the dark.
Did you do the design of the frame / Sides ? there is a drawining of the side on the wall behind the mixer, and the homepage suggest you do graphic jobs for Sasha.
Hi friends, take a look to this controller:

seems that will be shipped soon, and i think it kills that sasha thing
and could be the best for our livesets.
Happy Xmas.
That looks pretty cool - although it lacks audio in/out. The whole idea behind Sasha's unit (Maven?) was to have everything piped down one Firewire cable negating the need for multiple boxes. The photo's don't show the back / audio - but you can clearly see a knob in the lower right hand corner (bottom photo) labelled "phones" and something that is about the size of a headphone jack on the top photo in the same place.
Although I'm sure the Bitstream will suit many users - mainly those who already have audio interfaces; or people who are not required to set up in the dark, with no space, during the handover time between DJs!

Interesting that this wasn't at NAMM either....
Looks pretty pro for a one off unit.

Hi
I spoke to someone who helped design this just after xmas. here's what I know:
It is a one off unit, and at the time I spoke to them they were in talks with various manufacturers. It cost £1500 to build. It weighs 25 kilos. Its deffo not really a production prototype at all, more a custom build thing that they hope to get a production deal for. Basically, its a while off before we see anything like this in the shop.
