I purchased a refurbished APC40 from AKAI just after they ran out in stores, and before I made the purchased I asked if they were blowing them out for a new version. The answer I got back was an emphatic NO, but they could have been ,uh, exaggerating ............:-)

We'll know maybe next week........ (GC says 11/5 now)

Thomann says:
"Availability of this item:shipment due to arrive on 23.12.2010"

Well, either that's real bad planning or a delayed new product, I guess...

Multiple stores here in Belgium have informed me that the European dealer's (Voermann) license for distributing Akai products in Europe has been revoked by the headquarters of Akai do to bad management. Therefore the Apc 40 isn't available around here for a while until they have found a new dealer worthy of the license for distributing Akai products to stores.
I ordered my Apc just before this incident. About a month and half ago.. Still haven't received word of a new shipment. Supposedly they'd have a new dealer somewhere in the beginning of this month..

Maybe this will mean a price reduction in Europe! I mean cmon, we have to pay 389 € (~531 $) @ Thomann, and you can get the same thing in the US for just 299 $ (~218 €) @ Guitar Center.
Even for 250 €, the APC 40 would be a total no-brainer that I'd buy instantly. But nearly 400? No way.

Could just be the remaining units they have in stock, especially as the seller is not a big shop which run out of supplies constantly and have to re-order.

well...i totally dig my apc40!

bought it few months ago and loving it...

coming from a dj background i can understand the "lack" of physical eq concerns but easily mapable to the top row of rotary's, no bother.

it would be nice to have some sort of visual (led) feedback on the matrix pads themselves e.g. track/clip name??

just a thought :-)
