'Dead Set's pretty damn funny as well...

Its opening scenes are on the set of the real Channel 4 UK Big Brother TV show, complete with the main presenter. (Soon to bedcome a zombie of course)

NB: Was technicaly a 3 part TV movie, so not a bonefide series.

Not sure when Walking Dead screens over here (UK) tho?

Wrong.
Technically it was a tv series. A five parter, so I suppose it's dwarfed by american 24/12 episode standards. But never the less there are COUNTLESS tv series in the UK which only run 6 shows a season tops.
Considering the first episode was twice as long, they even had six shows worth of material. Coincidence ? No.


However, the series was indeed shown as one long feature for the following halloween.

Watched the first episode against my own judgement, just on the off chance that it wouldn't fail in all the ways I was certain it would. And sadly it lived down to my expectations.


Complete drivel. Another epic time waster if ever there was one. Jesus christ, about 45 minutes of it was spent on trite orchestral string music and grown men crying...oh and the kid for good measure. And if they made the characters any more middle class I think ...no strike that thought they couldn't possibly make them any more middle class. I wanted to poke my fucking eyes out when the other surviving cop's wife told her kid to go and do his chores, after she just reconciled with hubby over some utterly mun-fucking-dane marital spat that transpired moments previously. Jesus christ almighty. Is this a zombie thing or everybody loves raymond ?

The zombies are shit. They're the boring meandering kind. And when they get some pep in their step they do it like poorly paid extras in make-up...not like some crazed brain eating zombie who just spotted dinner. I much prefer the ultra-rabid variety of zombies as recently popularized by 28 days later, dead set etc.

The make-up is OK, but boring. There are brief moments of SFX brilliance that last about 10 seconds total out of a 1hr viewing.


Bah, a glorified pile of fucking shit...an epic fail in terms of zombie fiction. A huge time waster. and another archetypical drama. You might as wall watch grey's anatomy and pretend the patients are undead.

Have to agree with dum on this one. The show just doesnt capture the epic nature of the zombie. It does seem more like a drama series that just happens to feature zombies as characters. Some garbage acting as well, which is a shame. with a groundbreaking theme (for a tv series) you kind of have to go all out and prove to the audience that youre the shit, but this just didnt happen. I wanted to be impressed, and I will likely give it another shot in episode two but damn, they missed the bus.

Just didnt have any of those awesome moments like some of the scenes from 28 days/weeks later or other zombie flicks.

You two are both insane and clearly do not understand zombie films. It certainly wasn't the redbull generation idea of a zombie flick where everything happens at light speed and there's lots of action and gunplay because your attention spans are those of gnats and you're likely to start Texting your tween friends if things don't clip along. No, no it wasn't that at all. It was thoughtful, thought provoking, and EPIC. And that's only the 1st episode.

I don't mind that its not that fast paced, I do wish more stuff happened but I could live with it if it really was this in depth intraspective flick, but it doesn't offer any new situations. I mean, the whole, oh shit my wife is a zombie, what do I do now bit has been covered a bunch of times. Same with the oh shit the city is inhabited by walking dead part. And that wanker of a cop actor just strolled on in like it was no big deal that THE WHOLE CITY WAS DEAD. Shit man, show some heart. If something even remotely close to that happened anywhere I would be terrified but no, he's like psh, ill just roll on in there with this horse I found. And oh no! Should I kill myself?!? Like that theme isn't played out over and over again.

K I think I'm done now. I'm glad you dig it, hopefully it will gain a big enough fan base to improve over a few seasons cause it has potential (f*in zombies man)
