you havent read the subtext of the story.. they are not giving up because of beeing to expensiv or unable to adapt for new touch pads... they got hired away by someone bigger because of theire gained expertise.. and just dont have the time anymore to deal with lemur..

that was actually the writing on the wall when the pioneered in multitouch controlers..

Quite sad...the Lemur is much more advanced and the build quality is superior to the iPad's.

I don't know about that. iPad has a much superior capacitive multitouch screen with a much higher resolution. iPad's build quality is good not to mention all the protective cases you can get for it. And there's really nothing in the Lemur's software that can't be done on the iPad.

I feel bad for Lemur owners who are being left out in the cold like this but it's not like you couldn't see this one coming many months ago.

the hardware was dated with the arival of the ipad.. you cant beat apple in computer hardware.. the software could have been ported.. but as it looks now.. the whole development team got ported..

probably also more interesting for them to move along t new projekts instead just doing all wats done again on another platform...

Call me stupid, but I prefer to have controllers that connect physically to my laptop with a lead.

I’m sure the iPad works fine, but my experiments with an iPod touch have not gone well – jumping parameter changes and connection dropouts.

Reading some of the Lemur forum posts, I find some of the stories from people that bought Lemurs strange. They have splashed out on a piece of gear they basically can't afford.

When the Lemur came out I wanted one, but I would have had to starve myself and have no social life for a year to buy what is essentially a software control surface. So I bought cheaper, more affordable hardware, that I could afford to replace within my budget.

Some might think it's very romantic to think of people scraping together every last penny to buy an instrument or a piece of gear. But it doesn't do it for me - it just sounds like the worst kind of consumerism.

Ornette Coleman blew people away with a cheap plastic sax.

And then of course, there's iConnectMIDI.

The Lemur seemed like a really great device; aimed at a select few and professionals who no doubt got theirs free to help spread the word.

I respect a company like Jazzmutant for thier hard work in coming up with a gorgeous device. It was just a matter of time; APC, Launchpad then the ipad proved to be too much.

Sucks but $499 and you can watch porn on it wins over $2,000 and you have to run OSC protocals.

All the ipad apps I've seen are a joke compared to the Lemur's, but I guess they'll have to get better.

years of lemur dvelopment time and month for the i pad? the hardware is phantastic. and a wireleess controler? you can laeve the stage and adjust your sound while running..isnt that fantastic?

It was already dope enough being able to control Ableton with my iPhone. I'm sure the extra real estate on the iPad is really fun! Sorry for Lemur users. I lusted over one of these for years but just couldn't bring myself to spend that amount of money. I have an LP and an APC 40. I think for me I'm pretty set. I know that it can do a lot more than those two controllers but for what I'm doing it's enough. I just hope my replacement PCB board fudging gets here soon! Not being able to use my APC is a pain in the ass!

I sold all my Lemur Mutants long times ago, but the news still makes me sad!

i just hope steve duda still finishes his lemur-plugin for the vsti nerve. still would be awesome.
