I voted 2 : the quality is ok, but there is not enough !

Using preset is good if the preset is good
If none of the presets suit what you're after, then don't use them. simple as that.

compared to the Komplete presets i don't really like the Live ones.

With komplete i feel like i can look for a sound and then find it, but with Live i have to be completely open to any sound to use them (IE not look for anything specific just an interesting sound)

I love live clips! but i never use them... Probably because of the browser integration. Mentally i have the devices browser open 100 percent of the time. I made racks with my fav plugins. I have hot keys to switch browsers but still never use the clips. Kinda sucks for me actually.

I love being able to change any phrase into whatever key i need and make it sound the way i want. It's like full control over a loop... the rare times i've used them.

They are inspiring for me. Inspiration is a funny thing, don't mess with it.

I think this is a good thread!!!! It's funny to me that so many claim to not use presets. With hardware workstations, it's just the opposite. Presets sell hardware workstations. You don't really here anyone complaining about not being able to tweak a sound in a Motif or a Fantom. I guess maybe the style of music that one does determines ones approach to using or not using presets.

One of these days, these guys will realize they can sell a lot more copies of Live if they actually challenge hardware workstations with a claim that they actually have better presets than a Motif or a Fantom.

Don't use presets but I don't have an issue with other people using them. Whatever works for ya. I just enjoy making sounds from scratch. Haven't really checked out the clips or presets other than basic stuff like a piano for getting an idea down fast or checking the pitch of field recordings. What I have heard is ok for what it is. I mean, it's somebody's drum & bass loop that they didn't mind selling in a sample pack, how much can you expect?

I use the clips to demo the drum-kits sometimes...
and get things started quick...
then change/delete the clips to make them my own..
come to think of it I only ever use :
'clips\drums' .. 'templates' and 'samples' folders

... and then explain to them you need to mouse things around sometimes..
and build a setup..
get separate controllers and audio interfaces etc.
meanwhile...
the guy just wants to play music on a keyboard with nice touch...
pack up quick and move to the next gig...
I think the only one trying to reach that(workstation) crowd is 'OpenLabs'..
but it's still not so competitive..don't know if they're doing so well..
I personally hadn't seen much 'NEKO's around...

edit :
just remembered KORE2 is also appealing to the same crowd ...AND built to integrate with any DAW
