no doubt, since the whole moderation ban hammer shambles is nothing more than an absurd game of cat and mouse...

Yeah, he's right. I miss the days of classics like "puppet on a string", "da doo ron ron", "rockin' around the christmas tree" and "yummy yummy yummy i got love in my tummy".

I never use pre programmed loops - that would be somebody else's music not mine. But all music involves repetition and creating and layering loops is a perfectly good way to compose. The art is in getting the right balance between repetition and predictability versus change and novelty/surprise.
yeah I do want to clarify - there have been a lot of loops appearing in more recent times where they are pretty much a whole song. That's pretty pointless. Although even there they can have a use, you can slice them up, twist them about etc… again it's all down to the creativity of the producer.
I have a pretty hap hazard way of making music and take a bit of a serendipitous approach where I try and encourage "happy accidents" as much as possible… so I like to take bits and pieces from all over the place and take little bits from them - kind of like a birds nest made out of coat hangers and party streamers.
So while I agree with what "Da hand" said in that if I want a very specific sound it will probably be quicker to make it myself, because I actually like to inject randomness into my music all the time, I don't find I search through loops for long - I just chuck in the first one that sounds a bit close and try and make it work, either by slicing, chopping, warping, or even with grooves, or if it doesn't work then I find another one - but I don't usually spend that long looking because when I use loops it's usually not to create something specific, but to create something deliberately non-specific if that makes sense.

^^ Well, then again, guitar riffs, drum patterns, bass licks, etc... are all essentially loops. Just that they are played live, instead of played, recorded and then played back.

Lives looper loops loops live for lively live loopers!
And when the song is over, you clear the buffer and they're gone.

dude, miles davis' "on the corner" is awesome and its mostly loops.
one of the fundamental tools for making interesting music is repetition. without repetition, its nearly impossible to create expectation, another fundamental tool. without expectation, there can be no tension/release.
looping is just a really convenient way to create repetition.

Prepackaged loops are retarded. Get some good VSTs and make your own. Its all just a scam to trick newbies into buying their crap.
