Holding down the Apple key moves in .01 increments here. Are you running 8.2.1? There was a beta bug in an earlier version which didn't allow for precise movements, discussed in this thread here. Also, try changing the range from 60 - 200 to something like 110 to 130, and see if that helps.

And I understand about being busy, finding time; and wasn't trying to come across preachy (hard not to when suggesting one read the manual). This is just one of those kind of applications where they fit in so much stuff behind a simple interface, that it is hard to find it all through trial and error. If you do have about seven hours and $50 to invest, the Core Live 8 tutorial at MacProVideo.com is a worthwhile investment. I watched it when upgrading to Live 8 Suite; and even though I had used Live 4 - 7 for years, it taught me a lot.

I'm running 8.2.1 on Windows 7 64bit and I'm not sure if there's a bug. I will try changing the range from to 110 to 130 and see if that helps.

And by all means you didn't come accross as preachy I wish I had the time to read the manual. I've been looking for a Ableton class or online class to sign up for, but not much available in my region. I found a 2 day 2 session course with dubspot.com, but that's in New York. I will definitly look into macprovideo I hope to have more of your help in the future.

To edit the song tempo envelope, unfold the Master track, choose Mixer from the top envelope chooser and Song Tempo from the bottom one.

Nice job changed the rates and I was zero in on the exact bpm. I'm still trying to figure out what you meant by difference between smooth & hard tempo jump. I have a starting node at bar 1 set at 114bpm and another node where I want the bpm to change slightly before bar 20 also at 114bpm. Then the third node slightly after bar 20 starting the new bpm at 134 would that be a hard tempo jump.

Yep. For a hard, or quick jump, it is also possible to have two nodes on the same beat. By a smooth jump, I meant one that spans from the first node to the second, like a slope.

If I speed up the tempo on a certain part of my song but have already tracked my guitar. Could I change the tempo of the recorded track also? Would that be what they call warping? How?

Yes, this is the Warping aspect of Live. When a clip has its Warp button enabled, it will sync to the tempo of the song. Though easy to do, the explanation of the process itself can be a bit complicated, so I'm going to recommend focusing on sections 9.2 and 9.3 in the manual.

The main idea is that each clip can have "warp markers" assigned to transients, which slice up the audio granularly, and then a mode can be assigned to the clip which tells Live how to handle the stretching or warping, i.e. Beats Mode for simple drum loops, or Complex Pro for complete polyphonic musical pieces.

By default, Live will sync any warp enabled audio clips to the tempo track. For a guitar track, I would probably use Complex Pro mode, and might add or move some warp markers, or modify the Formants and Envelope sliders, to make it perfect. It is entirely possible to make the warping transparent.
