@gavspav thanks, there's some good info in there!
i've updated the grabbr plugin to be able to select input source (see vid above).
i think some of vade's optimisation tips might be quite easy to implement too.

Thn x to share it, i've made this type of patch too. But one question, is it me or u can't work with more than 320x240 video size when u render? (Sorry for the poor English, encore un French dans la place...). I've done so mods to work in 1280x720 but not working everytime, and don't know why....

yeah, customizable resolution is certainly on the to-do list.
I believe there's an automatic resolution handling system in place in the vizzie modules where resolution for the viewr/recorderr is set by the input resolutions of the playr/grabbr. All this goes on inside sub-patchers somewhere in the plugins so if you're having trouble that's where the bug would be.

There's an incremental update for the GRABBR that defaults to 640x480, as do the rest of the Vizzie objects on the website in the incremental uploads area. We didn't make
any attempt to support 1280 x 720 - the idea was that this would be for either beginning users or provide a starting point for more advanced users to customize for their own purposes. Your original respondent IS correct that the resizing is done in a subpatcher so that loading something more exotic shows up as a nice strip with black above and below.
You can find the 640x480 default GRABBR at

I've put out a small update for these plugins.
* all devices frozen and outputs plugged with “.” to prevent stack overflow errors
* Grabbr – webcam source now selectable
* Playr – clips in drop down now save properly
download link's the same:

is it possible to do something like sound to light with it?

do you mean generate visuals from sound?
not currently but it wouldn't be to hard to create an oscilloscope or similar... that might be a good idea!
you can quite easily get sound level to modulate parameters of the effects using the peak2mod plugin or similar.
you can also have one MIDI CC control a both a sound and video parameter which has a similar effect.
BTW - VIZZable's made it out into the wild!

anyone else gigged with it yet?
more updates coming - resolution bump, vade optimisations.... and maybe an oscilliscope.... ;P

You, sir, are a legend.
I was only discussing this very idea a couple of days ago. What I love about the M4L community is people like you come up with stuff and make it happen at just about the time I think: "Wouldn't it be cool if...".
Brilliant work.

This is indeed great work, I have been loving the vizzie modules and to be able to use them within the live rack is superb, thank you very much. So far I have been mainly using the grabbr as a source, however if I try to load a document of videos into the playr it wont accept it, is this a bug or is it because I am on a windows machine and I need to change the document settings somewhere? Apologies for this noobie question

but I am at a very basic level when it comes to the under-the-hood workings of M4L. Any help would be appreciated!
many thanks

WOW I am loving these modules so very much - thank you for your efforts. I've chained a bunch of them together, contained them in a rack and am using clip envelopes to control the 8 macro knobs which have been mapped to controls in Brcosa, Pixel8r, etc. Just astonishing how much power is there to control... everything! Please continue with your refinements!!

It seems that my mistake was trying to load a folder of videos from within the live browser, doesnt seem to work. I am REALLY loving this now!!
