But I want to point out that Leeds also had his own album which Tarekith also linked in the first post.

But I only just discovered he had more music under the name "Umbriel rising" available on several albums and EPs for download at Jamendo with just a donate link if you want to, but you can download for free if you have already bought one of the others.

most of it is on his soundcloud as well:

I'm just speaking for myself, but personally I'd be just as happy if this project only served the purpose of advertising his own work, because that's his legacy. I mean, of course I'm sure Leeds would be absolutely chuffed at the effort that's gone into this and I by no means want to detract from that, we did this out of total sincerity and I think the results speak for themselves.

I just wanted to be the advocate for buying his music as well, or even instead of. Either way it makes no difference to the money side of things which one you buy, as it will all go to his family, I just really like the idea of his music selling posthumously. It seems like a nice thought to me, and bigger than what we did because it is his legacy.

I guess you can all understand where I'm coming from because I think as musicians we'd all like to think we were able to leave something behind in our music, so I really don't want to overshadow his efforts with ours. I'd rather we serve the role of enhancing and adding to it.

The best solution: buy both! ;-)
I too think this is a really nice thing, but legacy-wise my first thought was why they didn't make a fundraiser album with his music instead? Like you said, moneywise it doesn't matter, of course. Maybe there can be a such album as well later? That would be really nice.

Mainly because we don't own the rights to his music, it would be illegal to try and distribute someone else's music, even posthumously.

that and his music is already on sale, so all we really need to do is bring attention to it. For me personally, the tribute was our response to the loss of a friend - we felt like we wanted to do something so we responded in the way we know how as musicians. If we can also use it as an opportunity to bring attention to his music as well then to me we've done good.

And as I pointed out in my last post - all of his stuff under the name umbriel rising is available on Jamendo where you can donate whatever you like or just download for free, so if you already bought another one and donated some other way then you can still download those - and there's actually quite a bit on his Jamendo page, I can't believe I missed it until now.

I'm not sure about his album on bandcamp, but from memory the set minimum price for the download version was something like $8.50 Canadian, which is really not a lot. So in any case there are a lot of options.
