Excellent. It really is an upload and forget type thing. The software could be a litle better but they are working on it I think. You get a little tab that you can click on that shows the status of each store upload and a little finance tab so you can keep control of your income, if therte is any...
I say that because promo is down to you, no promo, no sales of course.
But the big plus is the sheer coverage of stores they deal with, all the biggies (including Beatport but I don't make the kind of music they would accept anyway so i can't vouch for the success of beatport upload) but also including discogs, mobile stores in germany and scandanavia and aeastern europe...its been quite funny to watch where your music shows up.
Good coverage, quick uploads, does what it says it will do really.
Making money is down to you, as always though and I think there are some other aggregators who can assit with promo as well.

if you´re looking into rebeat, i suggest you look at the contract
http://en.rebeat.com/Download.ashx/REBE ... ms&lang=en
i just skimmed it and saw that when u sign the contract u agree to give them exclusivity to all digital releases...
doesn't have to be bad, just thought u should know

Yes, goes without saying, you need to check your contract, as you should with all contracts.

Depressing, isn't it?shadx312 wrote:No love for Bandcamp?
If you want a simple, easy option, I would also recommend Bandcamp. They provide hosting and simple web-design, and take a reasonable 15% (I believe) cut of any money sent to you. You'll need to do your own promotion (you'd need to even if you go through Tunecore, Amazon, iTunes etc.), keep in mind that a lot of these digital distros are just that. Not labels, nor promoters!
My 100%-made-in-Live album is up at Bandcamp and it was a very easy process. It's the promotion that's tricky.

Bandcamp is excellent too. I thought they did offer some promo services...or was that ReverbNation?
Possibly the latter. Had some good add-ons, at a cost of course.

I'm not so sure. Reading the blog post carefully suggests that Tunecore refused to pay because the poster had not obtained sample clearance, and the poster implied that no such clearance exists. At least that's how I interpret this:scutheotaku wrote:It's wrong that tunecore is doing this, but by the sounds of it these people didn't do anything to protect themselves.yup yup wrote:i would read this before going with tunecore....tempus3r wrote:i use tunecore.com

Well of course you're not safe! If you sample or cover someone else's work, that's making a copy, and you need permission from the copyright holder. That's the way it is, and it's not Tunecore's fault.I am writing this to warn you about this practice. It doesn't matter if you have licenses or not for your songs. If you samples someone, do a cover of a song, you are really not safe.

My flu brain is way to puny for that contract I'll take a look at it tomorrow. The Rebeat/Beatport connection is interesting considering Beatport does have an air of being more of an exclusive club then a lot of other download services. Of course that could change if Rebeat gets a lot of custom. Beatport have a habit of dropping people who don't sell, does this also apply to rebeat custommers I wonder?Silence wrote:if you´re looking into rebeat, i suggest you look at the contract

I've an album coming out on a label that uses Bandcamp, looks good.

Actually I just had a read through of the Licence agreement, wasn't that tricky at all. They get exclusive distribution rights on anything uploaded but you seem to be able to exist that agreement as long as you give 4 months notice and you pay e10 per track. It's not clear if selling Cd's breaks their concept of 'digital form'.

cool!
i should really look into that agreement

rebeat:
99 euros for software (1 time)
1 for EAN/UPC (per release)
1 for ISRC (per track)
and 15% from all the income (in small letters)
is that correct ?
Also! they will get you up to beatport with your labels name or with the rebeat name?

I believe it is under the Rebeat 'label', as that is how you appear on all other etailers.
