also why are they being called electro?
what is electro about them? just like most top 40 crap they are r&b/pop.

that's backwards thinking nathhannnnnn. selling out would be something the artists choose to do. being on a top 40 station is something the radio stations choose. are top 40 stations rife with sellout artists? totally. do you have to be a sellout to be on a top 40 station? nope.

if you made a killer track (I know, bear with me here) and a top 40 radio station put it into rotation without you even knowing it, you would not have sold out, you didn't even know they were playing it.

of the bands I know about, Train and the Plain White Ts aren't considered sellouts. the rest are total f-ing whores.

*insert auto tune* "ive got a feeling" that if i was to dig deeper we would find that the same agency who manages the black eyed peas also plays a part in the top 40 stations. but that could be just me being paranoid.

Clear Channel owns most of the radio stations in the US. they're evil bastards. look them up. AFAIK they have nothing to do with the BEP's management but I have no doubt that will.i.am has danced on their board room tables, quite literally. read that article. not bad for a kid from East LA.

well i read about half of it...most of the article seemed to be the writer in awe over the "genius" of will i ams sales man mind. to me this type of *insert auto tune again* "artist" is nothing more than a corporate beggar.

there really is nothing else to define them as other than sell outs.
the jist of the article seems to be that they will bend over backwards for any corporation that sponsors them.

attention span - work on it.

many of the old music industry paradigms are being reinvented and BEP are breaking new ground in selling out. it's not just that they're selling out, they're doing it very professionally. will.i.am isn't selling out when the corporations go to him, he's going to the corporations. he's actually being asked to speak at corporate functions to teach them how his business model works. for once the musicians are teaching the businessmen how to do their own jobs.

he gets Blackberry to sponsor a tour and he starts the shows by freestyling over Blackberry tweets from the audience while the tweets are being displayed on a big screen. brilliant marketing.

having been a fan of BEP since their first album I saw my version of their situation go down over the years. this new stuff is crazy. after reading that article I have a strange new respect for them.
