i dont know what you did wrong,, probably your itunes is just not playing or you set the firface to some crazy high samplerate or alike

actually an apple is supposed to be fool proof

maybe play it with ableton klife first that allways should work..

and.. maybe restart you computer and repair permission..
and

read the manual

Youtube has videos that explain totalmix very simply, I suggest you search there for rme and totalmix to find them. If you buy a pro level soundcard in that price range, you can't just throw up your hands and say you don't feel like learning one of the most important parts of it.

and dont forget that you might ask the shop that sold you the expensiv soundcard or audio interface...

you also might check the firewire cable... you have connected one? and the interface is switched on?

hello ,

i supposed you are under windows...have you choose in the audio section of window , the "by default's" audio driver for the internal sound card or the fireface driver ?

is ableton opens when you had go on itunes ? because you CANT use the driver on 2 things at the same time you have to choose ..maybe you can configure it in order to play music with the windows's driver and works in ableton with the fireface's driver. i ve never tried it ..

and off course ,even its not specially funny ..its better to read the manual because with the fireface you can go wrong with the drivers's installation and configuration ...( excuse my poor english )

With RME you *can* use multiple applications at the same time, however you must make sure that each applications is using different audio channels.

All of this is very well explained in the manuals if someone would have taken a couple of minutes to read them. Most people when buying something like this (in this price range) tend to research what they are getting to the point they know all of this before it even arrives...

almost. except that one special generation of MBPs uses a crappy firewire-chipset that forces you to buy a repeater-cable in order to get it to work with the fireface 800. :|

check the rme forums and appereantly this problem on imacs has been going on since 2007 and apple and rme has not got an update to fix the problem the fw400 cable wont work you have to have an fw800 cable for it to work (which it didnt come with) the fw 400 card is not compatible with imacs. cant believe this problem has been around since 2007 and they couldnt have a new firmware or update to fix. its been 4 YEARS!

see my last post. it can be fixed but requires either a repeater-cable or a 2nd firewire device chained before the RME.
but isnt it still unclear what system the thread-creator is using?

running itunes into a ff800 is like trying to run your car on sick

set your system settings to use the fireface instead of it's own soundcard.. ?
