Advice on choosing a microphone

my swissarmyknife mic is a rode nt3, very versatile, not too expensive.
With that and a SM57 I have a lot of possibilities.

It really depends what kind of music you make. I make mostly electronic dance music so a more neutral mic can do the job. If you are tracking a lot of instruments in a band setting then having a variety of mics is useful because you don't want everything to sound the same.

The documentation for both of my Rode Mic's say "Designed and Manufactured in Australia."

ok than it only looks chineese.. however not a bad recomendation in this price range... only question..how much sound pressure does it take? a real swiss army knife has to chew a lot...and thats a diziplin where cheap mics sometimes fail or dont even tell how much soundpressure they realy can take

What do you mean by sound pressure? Are you talking about sensitivity? Equivalent noise? Signal/Noise? If you are intereted you can check the rodemic.com site. All the info for all of the mic's are there.
