With the X3 Live you could have 2 tones at once. Each of these tones had entirely separate chains (10 FX each), and you could route each chain to a separate output of your choice on the unit. This was awesome because a.) I could feed 1 tone into 1 track in Ableton, and the 2nd tone on a different track, b.)For the Stick it was a huge win to have bass cab on the bass side...However, be warned you can't run 8 high demand effects. You can easily get away with two reverbs or two delays but if your goal is to run three reverbs and three delays at once think again because this is unlikely to work. With dual tone the options are even more limited. - Fewer simultaneous FXs than X3: The number 8 sounds like an increase but is in reality a decrease. In X3 you can run gate, wah, stomp, comp, eq, vol, loop, mod, delay and verb for a total of 10 effects. You can also run 10 more different effects in parallel for a total of 20. The HD500 can run 8 effects total so if you wan't a vol pedal, gate, loop, eq etc. be prepared and know these all count as FXs. This limitation is augmented if want to run two guitars at once with separate dual tones as you will have only 8 effects between both of the two channels. -Fewer amps- I particularly miss the piezo amp I use with my piezo equipped tele
I can find no info in either the hardware or software manuals for the HD500 that would lead me to believe this chain routing is possible. I see the HD500 offers dual tone, but it seems as though you cannot split tones to separate outputs.
