Thank you all for your help - especially 'auditory canvas' for your picture! Problem solved! I had it wired like you pictured (and how i thought it would work!) but for some reason I was still getting audio to the master fader - don't know why? (Maybe I had a send or another channel still going there and not set to ext out - i can't remember now?) This is where the confusion was i think and why I was trying to disable the master channel. I now see and understand that setting channels to ext output does not send to the master channel (although the master channel output may still be routed to your speakers - you wont actually get a signal there - hence no sound from the master!)
Anyway tested again with a new session and all works fine on separate outputs as expected. Horah!
Thanks again for everybodys help.

Glad to hear you got it working. Yeah, remember to send the return tracks to the output you want them routed to too.
Re: using Live with multichannel audio interface outputs?
Hi Anyone!
I have a similar issue..
I would like to hear my master mix through different pairs of speakers and woofers (at the same time too, ..)..I've tried to achieve this with return tracks and sending each audio track to ALL the return (i.e. i Have outs 1-2 with yamaha NS10 via MASTER ,return A ext out 3-4 with a woofer, return B ext out 5-6 with other pair of speakers..return C ext out 7-8 with a center field mono..)
It seemed the obvious solution.. but my m-audio Firewire 410 seems to sum up everything ..so the listening is a bit unclear (this is not happening in Pro Tools..where I choose separate masters, each with his pair of speakers.0
I hope I was clear.. my problem, making it short, is that using return tracks to monitoring different outs at the same time will sum the general volume and you cannot decide if your system is balanced or not..
anyone can help me?

Try creating an audio channel then setting the input for that channel to resampling, then set the output to Ext. Out and whatever outputs of your soundcard you want. Repeat all steps for each separate mix out that you want.Mercu80 wrote:Hi Anyone!
