I personally love the saturator, especially the waveshaper module but all Live's effects are pretty good once you experiment.

Would be nice to have more side chainable effects, especially reverb. It would also be nice to be able to modulate parameters with a mini sequencer, similar to the matrix pattern generator in Reason.

Insta-phat (or EQ3, as it is more commonly known).

Please explain its phatness - would like to know how to use this EQ more phat-ly.

Utility, I use it the most, possibly on every .als.

i like to find a way to slip in a Pong delay... especially on something subtle.

I could be wrong, but I think he's referring to the weird characteristic that it has where it seems to do something to the sound even when set neutrally. I can't really describe what that something is, but I personally don't like it. But I can see why someone else may find it to be an agreeable effect. Drop it on a channel and turn it on and off and have a listen.

Its the effect of inadequately damped filters that are used to separate the bands and/or a consequence of summing phase changed signals. At default settings (250/2500, 48dbOct) it will cause a peaking of about 3db centered on each crossover frequency.

i do have more racks then i can count, but never crossed my mind to just have an automation container like that. (i hear you, on the miss with gain on utility).

i'd second live's reverb.

infact, i love all live's devices, including amp. although amp sounds like shit for guitars heh. but man it can make some incredibly awesome sounds when used with the right source audio.

I'd have to agree with all the votes for Reverb. It's capable of a pretty big range of sounds, on top of which it's by far the easiest reverb to program that I've run across. I find that sometimes I need to couple it with some delays outside or an EQ8, etc. But it's great.

I think the Grain delay is underrated too. It's capable of a nice range of distortion effects.

The more I work in Live, the less I use 3d party plug-ins. The one thing I really wish that Live provided was a variation on AutoFilter with some really nice analog filter emulations, i.e., Moog-style ladder filter emulations. There are some nice filters in Live, but they are inconsistently provided, with one set over there in FM, a slightly different set in Sampler, yet a different set in Analog, another set in AutoFilter, etc. I kind of wish that all those were expanded to include a complete set that you could expect to find everywhere that Live provides filters.

The learning! It burns my mind! That's a wicked explanation man, cheers...but damn is it early for me to start picturing crossover frequencies

autopan! i use it all the time for strange LFO / envelope / randomness + verb, etc..
