Any patch that enables better/more extensive/complete routing and MIDI assignments should have been a part of Live as far back as Live7.

The 16macros patch you created is fantastic. I've never used it, of course, but I'm told it's beautiful. The functionality found in your patch is a perfect example of something that should have been a part of Live's basic architecture. It's ridiculous that any macro in any rack can't be mapped to ANYTHING within Live. In fact, it's silly that there isn't some kind of uber Macro/Routing page within Live that would allow you to have a screenfull of macro and routing assignments to do with as you please.

I've heard that there's a MIDI assignment patch (or several?) that allows you to alter MIDI settings like CC/Note assignments within Live itself. Another classic example of where I'm essentially having to PAY for M4L in order to get BASIC MIDI FUNCTIONALITY that's found in pretty much every DAW. lol.

There's plenty of MIDI routing patches as well; allowing you to point MIDI to just about any parameter in Live without having to use workarounds like dummy clips and the IAC Drivers. Again, having to pay extra in order to get that routing is silly, really.

We can go on and on here. The items I've listed above are ESSENTIALS that Ableton is not putting into the core program. Instead, they are treated as LUXURIES that have been given a $300 LUXURY pricetag.

These aren't uber cool granulator synths. These are basic items that had better be in Live9.

Of course, the more basic yet needed shit that isn't in Live 9, the more people have to buy M4L.

Thanks Zebra, you've answered with more examples than I was going to. I was only going to mention the routing of modulators to Live's internal parameters but yes, more macro's would also be welcomed, though I would like to be able to replicate my controller's front panel exactly within the Macro panel. Infact, multiple variations for each and any controller I possess.

If they're going to call it "Live", then it should be made better as a standalone performance machine. Max4Live is an add-on.

I'd like to see Live 9 also include a personal strap-on fart harvester. Now that's REAL natural gas. This would be a great way to go green passively since we all sit on our asses a lot during DAW sessions. Imagine the savings in fossil-fuels.

But that doesn't answer my question. Where has it been said that whatever we can build in MFL won't be part of Live? There hasn't been a Live upgrade since MFL was released and we have no info on Live 9. How do you know what Ableton is or isn't going to add to future updates?

Yeah, we don't know. That's why I added that these are basic items (like OSC support as well) that need to be a part of Live 9.

I must be mistaken then about a MIDI assignment patch. I could have sworn I'd seen that posted somewhere. Maybe someone was asking about that feature, and then someone else responded with 'you could do it with M4L!' lol.

Bottom line is that we are all hoping that Ableton isn't expanding the potential of Live, only to say that the potential can only be accessed via M4L. That would be a SHIT move on their part with respect to anything MIDI/routing/OSC related. Especially given that other DAWs already give you access to those things.

This bundled in the box edition would help a lot in breaking into Live 9 - especially if it is anywhere near as buggy as Live 8 was
